I believe a grill in the corner would be too congested with the pillars. Maybe think about placing it in the middle. I believe some new patio furniture would spruce up the space. You could even paint the furniture you already have. Some lanterns may add a fun flare. Are you able to provide us with a photo facing the other angle? Please advise.

And what is casting that amazing shadow on the ground? I would definitely try to add that motif to the space in decor or textiles.

You could get a gel-fuel table top fire feature. Safe in indoor and small spaces, clean burning, neat-o!

I think you have plenty of room for a bbq pit in the corner. Being that you're open to people walking on the sidewalk I would think you'd want to anchor it down properly so no one is able to run off with it. I also think you have plenty of room for a small portable fire pit. Some come 24"x24" and smaller which would give you ample room to walk around but big enough for you and some friends to sit around and enjoy.

What you have is a small patio and it looks like its facing south and gets good sun. Wonderful. You have so many fun ways to make this sing. I would add color in furnishings, ceramic planters, plants both on ground and hanging. You also should paint the exterior soffit a fun color and soften up the black on the decorative columns. that photo above w/the blue rug is perfect. Go buy some spray paint that's good for plastic. paint all those chairs yellow or blue or orange to get some life. find a nice indoor/outdoor rug like pictured, as well as the light bamboo screen thing. bring in some pots w/flowers or plants. done.

you can also do this on the cheap w/cinder blocks and 2X2's and a cushion.

Be aware that a BBQ can emit a tremendous amount of heat and smoke...it could damage the underside of the balcony above. (You don't want a lawsuit.)

I love the photo with the orange glider and brightly colored rug. And how about lots of plants?
