Absolutely. It saves the pool from skin oils, hair products, lotions etc going in, saves the skin and hair from whatever is cleaning the pool- even saltwater.

Of course, in a residential setting you need privacy. We had a home in southern Oregon that was in a great neighborhood. We had a wonderful position- elevated, green walls, space- that separated us from everybody. We figured out that if we could swim naked (undetected), then we could certainly install a shower.

Loved that house, for the pool/back gardens alone.

I would do it. If this was a secluded area.

Outdoor showers are a great feature to incorporate into a pool house design but clearly it depends on the location. There are some very cool privacy wall type products available on the market today. For example, OutDeco Garden Screens (you can get them from Twisted Elements in Minneapolis).

The pools around here make people take a shower wearing their bathing suit before getting in the water. I can see a big advantage for that and for getting the sand off the feet before going in the house in a beach setting.

When we used to rent places at the beach every Summer, outdoor showers for the feet was one of the things my mother looked for in rental properties. Having 12 people with sandy feet made sweeping a constant chore, but we kids were always in and out of the water and had sand in our bathing suits and the indoor shower was one at a time, but the outdoor shower was all feet in and used much less water.

I have had outdoor showers while vacationing in tropical places and thought they were great because they are private and we were constantly salty - plus it's warm and humid and indoor showers make the inside even more humid. I have a beach house now (in CA were it's not humid) but the outdoor hand held shower spray is only used for my dog because it's not private, not always warm and I would rather shower indoors.

Robbi, that seems to sum it up pretty well! Climate and privacy will be large deciding factors, and even then you must have a pool, lake, or beach nearby to really make it worth it. In the right setting, they're great!

no i will make sure mine is totally private and shall use it all summer. when ever it is sunny and you can feel the cool water and warm sun on your skin it feels luxurious. but yes you must make it private. but there are many ways now to do that. and i have no water, though am hoping for apool to help with arthritis and chest exercise.

you all really must try it. it does not sound as cool as it is. it was a pearl on my necklace and i do not get into nudity or anything, but that warm sun on your skin and the cool to cold water is an absolutely amazing feeling. please remember to try it just once. to me it is worth it even if i only got to use it once a year!

Outdoor shower only if I lived near the beach. Otherwise, no.

you can diy or buy all kinds of privacy screens, including wrapping fabric around like a snail shell so it has to go aways before they see anything. a bench to put things on and you can have anywhere. i mean your neighbors don't walk through your yard and walk in do they? if so, i would not have one. not til i moved from those neighbors.
