soil is slightly acidic (pH close 6.7 - 7), hot humid climate (typical San Diego weather) with ample sunlight, watered twice a week. That's a good advice and I will post it in figs4fun.com and ourfigs.com.

figs4fun is run by handle pitangadiego. He's in San Diego and started the San Diego Neighborhood Fig Project. Also the owner of Encanto Farms Nursery (http://encantofarms.com) which specializes in figs. You won't find a more knowledgable resource.... And he knows your climate.

If it helps any as i live in a cold area and grow in pots.

Once in a while a plant will suffer from the cold here in storage and put out a sprout from down near soil level and or pop out from the soil next to the main as late as June.

Anyways give it a chance and see what happens.

As for fig specific advice there is good information here its just not as active as other forums in the winter months but some are around just not as many members.

As a note i was an active member on F4F since 2008 and member here since 2005 but the drama there got out of hand and many long time members such as i have left.

Most recently Herman left F4F and he was as knowledgeable as they came.

Just wait it out and see what happens with your plant if its dead get another as that type is plentiful.

Would like to add, please give us an update in next several months as to if it is ok and show any growth as after revisiting the above pictures it looks like it has a chance.

I live in Orange County, and the whips I planted are taking their sweet time in breaking dormancy. My panache just started sprouting tiny leaf buds the other day. I keep all 4 of my new plantings moist, watering every other day. I understand how nervous you feel. I think the mild winters we have in SoCal have something to do with the timing. I could be wrong. Fingers crossed that you see grown signs soon!
