You can go darker if you like. The trick with gray tile is to make sure you don't pick a grout color that is too green or too blue, as lots of gray colors are tinted. If you can get a true neutral dark gray, I think you can go darker. Another thing to consider: when they seal the grout, it will darken the grout color a bit.

The OP asked about grout color. Please stay on topic and tell them their lower cabinets need to be white....unsolicited advice and not why they came to board to ask a question.

I'm sorry. I did not say they "need" to be white. I believe I said I would "like to see" them white. The reason I said that, is they appear not as fresh as the uppers, which MAY have been replaced......and the lowers not replaced. All rooms, inclusive of kitchen are the sum of all their parts. .....: ) Even a soft gray could be lovely, and this is of course jmho. Off the topic of grout, but on the topic of the kitchen as a whole. Sorry of course.

Light gray is best with your granite. Very pretty choice.

Agree that you don't want too busy a backsplash, so not much darker.

Thank you, everyone, I think I will stick with grout I have chosen. My house was built last year, so cabinets are new. I wanted my lowers stained because they need to be durable with children in the house. One side of wall cabinet is all stained. All stained would have felt too heavy for me, as this is not an open concept, so 3 walls of cabinets. I'm not a big fan of lighter stained cabinets in my own house, although they look great with some styles. I was so overwhelmed with decisions about building the house, and working on the house as we did a lot of labor ourselves, and I was also dealing with pneumonia at the time, that I made some decisions on the kitchen that if I had not been stressed I would have taken my time and researched it a lot more. Luckily nothing I can't live with. Overall I am very happy with the kitchen and house.

I would pick a color close to the tile. The counters are beautiful and frankly the backsplash not being the star - it should recede not stand out.
