I know you said you decided on the furniture placement but dare I say that is why it looks like a runway?

I do love your rug--it's very striking! You do need a better furniture arrangement.

I would put the sofa where the two chairs are now and the one of the chairs one the wall with the opening in it at a right angle and close to the sofa. The other chair I would put at an 45 degree angle to sofa at the lower left corner. Then you could get a coffee table.

The lamp you have now seems small compared to the other pieces.

Geez, I think I'd do a very different furniture arrangement to highlight the fireplace. Don't know if it works in your room, but how about putting your sofa on an angle -- parallel to the fireplace. Use your coffee table in the middle of that space. You can put your club chairs on either side of the fireplace facing the sofa. Your rug is lovely - I'd angle that too so that it floats along with the sofa -- with it and the chairs all touching it. Have fun!

Pull the chairs off the wall a bit and move the sofa in closer. Part of the problem is that there is too much distance in between the seating pieces. I'd say have at least the front feet of all the pieces on the rug. The lamp is low, if you don't want to replace it, give it more height by putting it on a stack of attractive books. A coffee table with a glass top or one on legs with no shelf under it will allow the pretty rug to show, I wouldn't add any more leather pieces.

I agree with Cooper - I also vote for the entire furniture grouping to be angled off the angle of the FP as that is the focal point of the room PLUS that is how you can comfortably watch the TV - it makes sense.

Plz arrange the furniture as Cooper suggests above, show us how it looks and we will advise you as how to fill up the empty spaces you are not happy with. Please send long shots.

I agree with Cooper as well, trying to make the fireplace the central point of the furniture but if thats not possible maybe you could try angle the chairs towards each other slightly? Right now they are creating a similar line to the couch, creating that runway feel. Playing with the angle would break it up a bit.
