Wandering Stitchers retreat reminder

For those who need time to make plans, our retreat is scheduled at Holston retreat center for Wed Oct 11 thru Sun 15 this year. We can arrive after lunch on Wed, and must be out by 10 On Sunday again. Hopefully they will have the rooms and the kitchen remodeled. With a bit more luck they will have decided to enlarge our work area just a smidge.

I am already looking forward to it. It is so beautiful in NC in October.

I've put in for my days off at work and I can't wait!

I hate this is another one I can't attend! My kids are out of school on fall break, so I'm sure they'll find something for me to do :-)

We will miss you and your beautiful quilts.

    It's on the calendar.

So nice to see so many I know still using this Forum! I'll be checking more about Fall retreat. I think about all of you having fun each Fall and I loved attending. I've been staying close to home, but we'll see what's in store for me in the fall. Meanwhile, hello --- and I'll be back soon to read some of the threads and view the pictures.

Welcome back, Jeanne! We'd love to see you at the retreat this fall - and you will love the Holston Camp and Retreat Center!

Good to see you back Jeanne. It would be wonderful if you could come this year.

I am starting to look at airline tickets ... getting anxious. Is there any way I can borrow a sewing machine this year and not fly with mine?

    Sue

Yes, ma'am. I will bring an extra feather weight you are welcome to use.

I will probably also have my spare with me too.

Last year it was my trip to Cuba that interfered; this year it's knee replacement surgery. Maybe 2018 will work into my schedule better. Have fun.

Thank you both, Beverly and Jackie! I am looking at flights and trying to figure out timing! So far my best deal is to fly 1am and arrive Charlotte about 6:30 am on Wednesday, then home Sunday afternoon around 4:30. If I only have to check one bag & not carry my machine, that would be awesome!

I have a major conflict that weekend. ;( Not sure how it's going to work out yet.

    Oh No Jennifer!

Whatever it is, Jennifer, change it! :)

Unfortunately, it the girls' Girl Scout Troop's Fall camping weekend. It's the only time that all levels (sisters) get to camp together. Melanie is eligible to go provided Mom goes with her. Plus, I can't see Mike getting 2-3 girls ready to go camping all while I'm gone.

We'll see. I've not given up on retreat yet, but will have to think on it and see if a plan can be created.

Oh no, who will stay up all night with me. Jackie, are you game?

It won't be the same, but family comes first.

Lois, can you come if we promise to make you do your physical therapy?

Bev, I am usually right there with you guys up all night. I will miss having my roommate!

Geesh, don't write me off so quick!

Oh, I do hope you can make it. Tim said it wouldn't be the same without you.

I'm dealing with an ailing mother (97) plus hubby needs valve replaced that might hit about that time. So, I'll wait and see. Bev, I may send you $50 for the cause anyway. I'll see how my stamina is by then. Going back and forth has been hard but lots can change by October. I loved Holston.

Thank you, Linda, but we can pay for the rooms when we get there. I have enough to cover the next deposit now. I do hope you can make it, but certainly understand if you can't.

Sue, I'm happy to bring my Feather Weight for you to use. Also, I can help with transport from RDU or Greensboro if you decide to arrive/depart from one of those airports.

I heard from Lisa at Holston and they have not done the remodel yet. The board opted to try to wait till they have a larger budget and do a larger remodel. But I think we can manage.

Did they at least get the bear-proof improvements installed? ;o)

No, so we will put Jackie in charge of that.

Teresa, we need to just make sure that back door is locked. LOL
