I'm thinking that maybe if you were to fuse some interfacing to the back it might stabilize it before quilting??

Is the glue the same as the 501 spray stuff?? I've used that and wasn't very please with how it worked. I still had a lot of shifting I agree with Rita, stabilizer would be a good idea.

The glue is Elmer's School Glue and there is no shifting with it. I don't have any stabilizer, so I think I'll just take that piece off (1/2 of the backing) and piece some 100% cotton. Thanks ladies. I would have hated to start quilting and had a mess.

I replaced the offending fabric, but am out of glue. Went for four stores and no one had it. Seems kids are using it to make "slime" and there is a shortage. I ordered six bottles from Amazon. They do a have gallon size, but you can only get that if you enroll in Prime. It has been so aggravating ordering from Amazon, I try and log in and it doesn't recognize my password. I change the password, finally get it and then can't get back in if I log off. I don't know if they are being difficult just to make me join Prime, but I am not going to do it.

I'm sorry, but I'm laughing! My daughter is one of those "slime" makers!! I bought a gallon of it on Amazon the other day! At least she's showing her creativity with different colors and add-ins, like glitter

It was strange. My husband has Prime and when he logs in, we can't even see the gallon bottle. When I log into my regular Amazon, I can see the gallon bottle but it will only let me order it if I open a Prime acct.????

What do they do with the slime once they make it? Just run their fingers through it?

I don't mean to sidetrack the discussion, but how is the glue applied? Do you just squeeze the bottle and apply lines of glue all over? Thank you.

I don't know about you, but I buy enough stuff from Amazon that the free shipping makes up the cost of Prime. My sister uses the movie part, so she really gets a deal.

Bluebell66 - I tape the top half of the backing to my dining room table. Squeeze the bottle and drizzle lines of glue about four inches apart, lay the batting on and press all over, drizzle more lines of glue onto batting 4" apart and lay top on, pressing all over. Once dry, about 6 hours, I shift the quilt up, tape down and repeat process for bottom half of quilt. Let dry and machine quilt. You cannot hand quilt through the glue. If hand sewing the binding, it can be very hard to get the needle through glue, so I try and stay away from the top edge when I am gluing, but it can be hard to just when gluing the batting layer down. I always wash my quilts when complete and that washes out the glue.

Slime is like a silly putty, if you remember that?? It's a gooey (not sticky) substance that they just squeeze through their fingers. It won't copy the comics like when I was a kid. I honestly don't see the attraction, but she like making all different varieties. Coloring and glitters all change the texture for a different "version".
