Thanks for the input. It sounds like the method you are describing is creating a kind of greenhouse effect? Do you do this inside, leaving the bulbs in their (dark?) place?

Yes I keep them inside in plastic dish pans until it's warm enough to pot them up or plant in beds. In the fall, I store them in the garage and around March or April I start over. I even save the baggies.

dogboy I wish I had seen this method before I potted mine, now I know for next year. Could I do this method with my Canna's that are still in my fridge??

Yep, I start colocasias and canna this way. When the roots start filling up the bag, I pot them up. My banana cana stay in the ground and return with no problems. ( I'm in GA)

Excellent idea! I will be doing that right now. Does it work for all types of colocasias? What temp do you have these?

I think it will work with any type of colocasia. I just keep them in the house until they start rooting. They don't need sunlight, just moderate heat and humidity. Poke holes in the bottom of the bag, moderate water, then seal the bag. In about a week you will see roots. I wait till the roots fill the bag and stalks are growing out of the bag then I pot them up with potting soil and Black Cow manure and stand back and watch them grow.
