Frames should compliment the art.

I do sometimes separate pieces by colors and that might include the frames, but it is the art piece that matters.

Agree with auntthelma. Frames should be selected to compliment the piece.

For art, agree with all above. For photographic portraits, match all the way!

On my gallery wall, I just happen to have 8 black frames that are identical. In the middle of this gallery wall, the big frame is gold. I did paint the frames surounding my children's graduation photos black to go with the gallery. Throughout the rest of my house, I have beautiful all wood photo frames that my husband made, gold metallic frames, and a couple of silver frames. It's not necessary to match the frames throughout your house thankfully! Here is a photo of my gallery wall in the living room:

On a different wall in the living room, here is a painting by my mother who provided the beautiful frame that compliments her painting:

Everything works and looks beautiful! It just depends on the look you are going for.

I am so bad at this......which frame do you think compliments this art print the most? Almost all of my framed photos are white frames, so I would rather not get white. All of these colors are in my house, so I think any of them would "go" (I am not exactly sure where I am going to put the art yet, but I have a few places in mind.....any of these frame colors would fit).

The black frame looks great but gold may also work--just throwing it out there since you have a lot of fall like colors in this art.

A subtle aged gold.

I think a dark brown frame would be best for the art, but I would try it without a mat. If you want a mat, it should be a linen color rather than white.

I like the gold with the print, but it overall feels too......gold. LOL

I can't explain it, but with a gold frame, all I see when is yellow when I look at the print. It is probably just me, but my eye gets stuck in the foreground or something.

I love it with the gold but I love gold anyway! If you do not want the gold, go with the black.

I am going to think about the gold. Maybe it would be good to get out of my comfort zone (which is a lot of white, black, gray, dark brown).....gold might be a nice change and add some warmth.

Maybe bronze would be a nice transition metallic?

I like that one with the silver grey frame!

And my frames do not all match through my house either, but I do have a lot of photography in black frames. (I also have some photography in brown frames, but it's in a different room than the ones with black frames.)

Re the painting - I think the greyish or the brown one would be my preferences, but I think I'd want a bigger frame, something with a bit more substance to it.

Since this is a print it needs a Matt and glass. Go with the silver/ gray frame. This print has a soft, casual feel to it and the other colors are to hard looking. Not sure how large the print is but I like a nice size Matt and adding a contrasting fillet will give it a more custom look.

Thank you lynartist! That is helpful. I keep going back to the silver/gray, so it is nice to know that others are drawn to that one, too. I had to google what a fillet is.......thanks for the suggestion; that would be a nice look.
