Can you post photos of the cracking and peeling? Perhaps some of the professionals here can weigh in on what they think has gone wrong--whether it really is normal wear and tear or some other problem--and that might give you ammunition to use with the Medallion rep. While I certainly expect my white painted cabinets to get a few dings that will need touching up (more so than wood stained cabinetry), cracking and peeling do not sound like wear and tear to me.

ridiculous. i would not be talking to the rep. i would talk directly with the president of the company ASAP.
alway polite but firm. the finish on these cabinets is clearly inferior. the company needs to replace them.
the old saying about the squeaky wheel getting the grease is true. i would not hesitate to let the head honcho know houzzers will be watching for a swift and acceptable resolution. surely this company does not want to have the many, many thousands of houzzers be left with a bad impression of medallion cabinetry.

The cracked and chipped paint started at the cabinet doors under sinks but have spread to the others. They are on top where the joints that form the frame of the door connect to each other. I have painted and stained cabinets in the kitchen. This happened to the painted cabinets. I will repost to Design Dilemmas if needed. Your comments are much appreciated.

Got it. Now I'm oriented. So when I'm looking at something slender, I'm looking at the top of a cabinet door frame. Definitely this is massively excessive chipping and peeling. I don't understand how they could attribute this to normal wear and tear. I have normal wear and tear (tiny, tiny dings on edges) and it doesn't look anything like what you are posting! I'd be upset indeed!

I am no expert at this level of detail, but it looks like a chemical reaction is occurring with a base product and the paint. Maybe they used a new product in production and this is just happening now...? Merciful explanation....

Yes, I'm surprised something would happen after two years. I would like the doors replaced, then I will have my contractor figure out a solution so that it doesn't happen again. Perhaps he can paint something on the top part. I will follow up with the CEO of the company today to see if they will replace. I will let you know the progress.

Poor craftsmanship ! I would ask what paint product they used . And it's mostly happening on the tops . A lot of times cabinet shops use lacquers for production use lacquers dry quick and multiple coats can be applied in one day sometimes what happens if the coats are applied to quickly and not waiting long enough to apply the next coat the coat before is sealed with another there for the other coat continues to dry and weakens the coat above causing it to fail I not saying that this is the case I'm not there to determine that but I have seen this happen before

I've seen this happen before as well ( thank God not to us). It looks as if the paint has failed because the joint has failed. The joint seams to have opened up, at least on the pictures that were posted. When a rail and style door is created there must be enough glue surface between the tongue and the groove to ensure a good glue joint. And then one must use enough glue itself. Without phyisically seeing the joint for myself I can not say for sure but it is a possibility, especially since you have stated that this situation is speading to other cabinets.

We are having our own Medallion Cabinet nightmare, I guess we are lucky, but they seem unable to even manufacture us a set of decent cabinets, which may allow us to get away from this horrible company without much financial loss - just a loss of over two months while we wait for them to attempt to put together a set of cabinets that are not cracked, chippped, broken, not square, or have a mysterious sticky substance all over the interior of the cabinets. Of course, medallion is unconcerned that they are unable to deliver us what we ordered and has not offered anything except a third attempt which they themselves don't seem to have any confidence in delivering a decent product. I won't even get into how they are hanging their supplier out to dry on the whole issue. Stay away!!!!

That company has grown from strong tradition to larger production. To be fair I have seen many successful long term installs.

I am having a similar issue with our Medallion cabinets. Our local kitchen remodeler sent someone out to do some touch up painting immediately after we noticed the chipping and peeling paint. This was 6 months after original install. We are now at two years post install and it continues to worsen. Enclosing some pictures.

Well, we sold that house. The new owners had the cabinets completely repainted. I am currently redoing this kitchen and will not buy Medallion and will be very careful what I do buy.

I don’t know if I should insist that the cabinets be repainted or replaced. It is horrible and continues to get worse.

We are experiencing same issue with Medallion cabinets..peeling and bubbling paint..gets worse as time goes on..has anyone been successful in contacting Medallion with a good resolution?

We are experiencing some of the same issues. We bought Medallion shaker cabinets in Eucalyptus green and they are getting what looks like water spots that cannot be washed off on some...almost as if you sprayed a bottle and the mist adhered to the paint surface. We also are noticing small chips along edges and corners. The color is beautiful, but we should not be experiencing this in just under two years.
