Help Channeling Bedroom Inspiration Please

last modified: 9 years ago

I had a few disjointed pieces of furniture (a rug and a bed) and couldn't for the life of me figure out how to make them work.

Well I found this inspiration picture, which had the two elements that I'm working with AND my husband and I both like it. In short, it's a winner, but I don't feel like I'm on the right track.

I need help channeling this pic. I keep fixating on the floor; the photo has leopard carpet and I have wood floors with a leopard rug (that I really don't love. I'm working on returning, but it's iffy). I have repainted the room a nice white shade that isn't too cold/gray for me, and I'm on the hunt for pieces of matted art in this black/camel/bronze/white color palette. I also am scouring my usual spots for the mismatched nightstand look and will start on bedding once I feel a little more certain that I'm on the right track.

I don't know what else to do to.

1. Do you think my floors are taking me in a different direction from the photo?

2. Is there some other major disconnect between my room and the photo that I'm not seeing? (Besides the magic of professional photography.)

3. Any ideas on a light fixture? I have an empty hole above the bed now.

4. Any other advice is so appreciated.
