Loving the eclectic style you're attracted to. And I love the beginning bones of the room with the bed and the rug! Don't get hung up on the floor - once all the other pieces and textures are added it will get lost in the mix.

I like the black/camel/bronze/white color palette for the space as well. They added a pop of navy as an accent color. Have you thought about what accent color you'd like to add if any?

With eclectic styles, they mix texture and attitude freely. And they blend lots of differing design styles. For instance, the nightstand in your inspiration picture is traditional with an animal-horn table in front of it.

Would you like to keep this type of mixture or narrow it down to a few styles you cater to? That will help determine what you're attracted to, and it will help with bedding as well. I'd love to help you pull this room together!

Thanks for your comment, Grey Heron Interiors. Great points, all of them. I didn't see the navy, but maybe the bedding is a dark blue? To my eyes it's registering as black, and I think I like the simplicity of the palette without an accent color.

I too like the eclectic look of the bedroom. I love the mix of masculine and feminine. I also love the look of "found" pieces from flea markets and resale shops that mix historical and art styles. I don't have any particular styles in mind for mixing, just hoped to follow the feel of the picture (especially those gorgeous nightstands).

I'm glad to hear the floor will fade into the background. I still don't love the rug. I think the spotted graphic feels a bit cartoonish and wanted to find something closer to the original picture.

One way to show less floor is to do a base area rug under the patterned area rug, like a large sisal. I've layered other rugs over the top many times.

Ahh, great idea. A nice jute/sisal rug would also work within my neutral target color scheme.
