@kimdee - sorry to hear about the mirror. I was thinking about you today as I walked first down the electrical aisle then past the mirrors. Was hoping there would be a solution. Boo!

Well, I'm gonna try to swing through one of the Lowes here in town tomorrow to pick up shades that fit. I'm fighting with some other electrical right now so hopefully I can at least get the pendant up tonight even if I don't have shades for it.

Boo! I'll get over it. I was going to suggest Lowe's for your pendants. They have some nice ones, much like the ones you posted there, and a good price. Was considering them for my house.

I went to the lighting store (Park) today, and they had lots of mirrors. I didn't even look. I'm so over mirrors!! And I completely forgot why I went into Park, I was so overwhelmed by all the choices and the plethora of fixtures hanging in the store. I don't know how anyone could possibly choose.

It really sucks when u find something u love and a wrench gets thrown in the works!! Hope u 2 find something even better!!
Hi... Sorry about the mirror kimdee... It was really pretty, but I bet you can find the materials you need for the right size of frame to make one..

Robin also sorry about those shades... They look really nice...

I love Craigs list... I have gotten several things from there... My husband was going to have my son set my computer so I couldn't access it... But I told him I would be good... LoL.. Been looking for a free piano for the wood... A lot of them have such nice front legs, and the panels are pretty nice too... Only problem is the ones I have seen that I really like would make it a 100 mile trip... Gas hog truck... I want to take the legs and panel to put on an antique bookcase I have to turn it into a bar for my basement...

So I go to Craigslist, farm and garden category. First item, mule. Second item, horse. Third, gelding. Then we have albino snakes. Do I live in a cow town, or what?
    LOL! Mule!
Oh, but wait there's more!!! Free manure! We have roosters, a yearling, Thai roosters and hens (there's a difference?) and the list goes on.....and on.....
Free manure...come and clean the stalls and it's yours!!

Bobbi.... I wished these were of my house....maybe someday it will end up looking like that or something close, but for now., until that SSDI kicks in, we're stuck in mid renovation. Doing small things as we wait, but some of the major portions of the renovation like removing the trees, the new electrical system, the new HVAC system, the new roof will have to wait...........so for now, we're stuck in mid renovation with no dry wall on the exterior walls or ceilings, and no finish floor (save the bathroom). We do have insulation batts in the ceiling and the exterior walls and ceiling are covered with plastic which we will replace this summer with light burlap.

The silver lining with the whole thing is that we've been able to evaluate the kitchen layout which we decided didn't work for us and we've redesigned it, the bathroom layout has evolved into something that will be more accessible for me and minimize the plumbing alterations........and we've redesigned the laundry area to be more of a cabinet piece........so there is an upside to this delay....
STK, how long has the delay been? I think mine took a couple of months for approval. But mine was never denied to begin with so it went faster.

oldcan is on aarp everyday. I joined but never commented. Just too much.

p s bob, do you have a recipe for pork tenderloin?
Judy, probably a crock pot recipe. I can look if you don't need it tonight.
Hi, guys, missing you all, I'm really getting withdrawal symptoms. Gotta dash back for more babysitting, don't even have time to read the fun day you have been having.

Catch up next week ........... when I recover. Take care all.

Bobbi, it's been 18 months since I filed for SSD. Was denied, appealed and that was turned down as well. Last July we filed for a hearing and have been waiting for the hearing to be scheduled. My problem is even though the condition is listed on the Government's Rare Conditions list. The mitigating factor is that the tumor was partially removed and since the shots keep the HGH (human growth hormone) in check in the eyes of Social Security standards I'm cured. Since there is much the medical community doesn't know about Acro, you get varying opinions as to cured or controlled..........SS looks at the tumor only, not the consequences or resulting condition..................so we wait.

I've come to the conclusion that I can never be an electrician. Oh. My. Goodness. I am so frustrated right now!!!
It really is complicated Robin... I know the contractor we hired to do our kitchen remodel really didn't know what he was doing... If I use an appliance such as a seal-a-meal, toaster, or electric griggle in any of my outlets, the lights go dim on one side or the other in my kitchen... So beware... Make sure you don't need another circut...
What's going on, Robin? Still fighting with those pendants?
All I'm doing is changing some existing hardwired lights to plug ins. It's just frustrating because its in a tight spot and I'm almost hanging upside down to try to make it work.

I'll figure it out. Just not tonight.
And I didn't even get to the pendants today. Boo
  • 13 years ago
It's one of "those" days where I seem to destroy everything I touch. I even goofed up dinner tonight... But there's always tomorrow. A new day.

Oh, I love those days. Yep, tomorrow is another day! No luck at Lowes?
Yup, don't stress... Tomorrow is another day... Get some rest... You will figure out in your sleep... LoL..
I always do... Funny how that works...
Too far for today. Gas just went up again and 2 trips out there in one day isn't worth it when I drive a Hemi. All the Lowes stores are on the outskirts of the city and I'm pretty much smack in the middle.
Well, I live at least 20 miles from anything somewhat good, and that's like I said, somewhat... I am 58 miles away from Seattle... Moved down here 15 years ago from Seattle... 5 min away... I miss it sometimes, but would never move back... Way too many people there now..
Hi all...just want to say hello and keep in touch. I'm eavesdroopping but no news to report from the "Left Coast". Bobbi..too funny about your Craigslist adventure. Free manure? Awesome. :)
I know what you mean, Robin. I have a smaller SUV but I put 100k on the other day just running around doing errands. I'm on the outskirts (Ellerslie) so while the Common is close, everything else is a trudge.
Well I'm off to bed. Laundry just finished and I have to be up for work in 6 hours.

    Have a wonderful night everyone!
    Nite Robin!
Hi Darzy... want to thank you for all your info... I have really been thinking about your ideas...
had to jump in on the free manure talk. i ocassionally advertised free aged horse manure on craigslist when i had a horse farm. people drove up to 40 miles to fill their pick ups. one woman called to thank me. she said her husband had just left my farm. he'd call her so thrilled with the manure quality, he was just sure his gardens would be spectacular. she said she " hadn't heard him that excited about anything in years ".
i had to laugh but really, that's a very telling statement ! can you imagine?
Very funny DIA! Years ago we advertised "free lava rock...you rake you haul". OMG...I HATED the lava pebbles and a family came with rakes and paid us $20 to not give the rocks away before they came back with pickups! They raked down to the dirt! (a lot of lava rock). They were the best landscapers we ever had..and paid us!.

On the flip side..I was so proud of my lava rock free work give-away I advertised a "free pool slide- you pick up" (when we remodeled our pool). We received a TON of calls wanting to come and get it so I researched and found out I gave away $1200 value pool slide. Ooops.
    thanks pattyag!
It's amazing what happens when you advertise free stuff. I had these plaster pedestals that were part of my living room coffee tables. I put them on kijiji for free and they were gone by days end. I had 40+ calls about them. Some girl bought them to use in her wedding. Crazy!
STK, my suggestion to you is when you go for your SSDI hearing, bring your harpoon. Dare them to stick themselves with it! Explain all about the gel and how lovely and comfortable it is. Make them feel your pain!

Ok, horse manure - there's a little town here called Ceres. I haven't been there since the 80's, but here's what I remember. There's a two lane road, one lane in and one out, and on either side there are two of the most amazing piles of cow sh*t you could ever imagine. They are taller than an overpass! And the farmers cover it with black plastic, and put used tires on the plastic, and the summer temps are over 100F, and the smell is...amazing.

Darzy, when you're ready to give away the pool, call me first, ok?!!!!!
craigslist curb alerts are fun when you have old furniture, rugs.garden containers, etc. anything too heavy to haul to goodwill. just post the ad with no phone # and good directions. say the listed items will be by the curb til noon.
it's quick and no one comes to the door , no phone calls. a feeding frenzy if the stuff is any good.

Darzy, ouch on the slide. you made someone very happy that summer.
Goodwill is getting pretty picky about what they'll take and what they won't. We've been trying to give away a set of crutches for months now, no takers!
