With regards to snow, salt, mud, sand etc... Does the travertine floor hold well with those elements? We are in a similar climate to Chicago. Thanks!

Travertine is a reasonably hard stone. In our experience, it holds up well. I'm sure you could mark it up if you really tried, but with a good sealer applied every so often, it should last indefinitely under normal wear and tear. Good luck!

Great floor

Is this floor slippery when wet? We are looking to put it in our mudroom where people will come from the pool to use the bathroom.

I think the traction on natural stone has more to do with the finish than the variety of stone itself. I wouldn't use polished finish in the area you're describing -- it would be a little dangerous to run on with wet feet. In this space we used a travertine with what they called a "French Quarter Paver" finish, which is basically a thicker tile (3/4") with a tumbled finish and a lot of pitting. Because of all of that surface variation, the traction is pretty good. Good luck!
