Can you add a shelf below the uppers and mount them higher or add another stack to the uppers? Posting elevations of what you ordered will help us help you better.

Door and window heights also play a part of this discussion so in a new build you are not getting proper design service if you are not seeing elevations and perspectives of your conditions.

The uppers he is getting are 30" with an 18" reveal between the counter and uppers that will bring the top to 7'... If he raises the cabinets and puts a shelf under them. it will be harder to reach inside of the cabinet.

No one said anything about these cabinets being kitchen cabinets. Maybe this is a wall unit?

@ Beverly you probably missed it... OP mentioned that "The Italian kitchen cabinets we ordered are only 7 ft in height."

I am sorry but what do you mean you ordered the cabinets before this was planned out? So what you mean is you have 36” high lowers and 48” high uppers ? If that is right then you have a choice to raise the upper a little higher than the usual 18” ( IMO too low anyway) but this will still leave quite a large space at the top so I think you need to add another row of cabinets . All that space will just collect dust and it is too much to use molding to fill that space .

Again, he needs to submit sketches of what he ordered for us to comment effectively.

The problem is the 11 foot ceilings are too tall for a kitchen, not that the cabinets are too short for the ceiling. Design failure from the beginning. 7 feet of cabinets overhead would be completely disproportionate, visually overpowering, functionally useless, and bank breaking.

Thanks for the feedback everyone and sorry for the confusion. It's our first time building a house so we're not great with the terminology. Here's a copy of the sketches for the kitchen and a rendering of the cabinets. Any advice on what we can do to match the height better?

Wow, those are some crazy wall cabinets! Any chance you could just make one... row of them a few inches taller and shift everything upward? At least your staggered arrangement will keep there from being a solid line some feet below the ceiling...

What's going on with all the staggered and offset cabinets? Any chance of rethinking this?

More than anything I think you are doing yourself a disservice to have those heavy cabinets so low over the sink. I would encourage you to cancel those uppers from the order (or repurpose in a playroom or office if you can't) and consider open shelves. You have a large storage wall and a walk in pantry so you could be fine in terms of storage. Good thing you reached out to us as your instincts were right. You were headed down the wrong path.
