Shoulders. Damn. BOTH!!!

Found out today......"No stem-cells for you"! Because.................................

........the *$&#*(^)&)$&@& -ing HD-MRI showed the small tear on my Left shoulder was worse than the U/S showed back on 2/17! It was kinda funny in a way. He said it initially looked like I would be a perfect candidate for the "small tear SC study", per that U/S scan. Last Wed's "3T-MRI" (3 Tesla vs a 1.5Tesla-power) showed an 11mm long tear, CLOSE to the actual Humerus. The funny part was when he said "So far Faron, we can't make SC's 'jump' any more than 5mm"!

SO. TWO RC's needed this year!!!!!!

The much-worse Right side will get done soon. We've known each other for a few years very casually, since we're kinda neighbors (& he did my left TKR 9/14). He almost never does surgeries on Tues or Thursdays. But he made a very nice gesture by saying he'd work me in on one of those days, & move some meetings around if needed! He's SO damn busy....kinda shocked me that he said that!!! This way, I can get the bad shoulder done in April (SOON!), & do the minor RC Left shoulder in maybe November.

Doing both the SAME year obviously means the 2nd surgery/therapies will be "free"! Insurance deductibles, co-pays, will obviously be met soon anyway. 2nd shoulder wouldn't "have to" be done same year, but by then, insurance will be paying 100%.

Yay! Wait................. ;-)

Wow, both shoulders in the same year! Your positive attitude will certainly help you in dealing with this. Good luck. May your recoveries be easy.

If anyone can do it, Faron, it's YOU! Congrats???!!!!! Having the second one be a freebie is great! Just relax during your recoveries like the famous Riley below. I think he had the TV remote in one of his front paws...

My right shoulder was done in Oct 2012. It was a bad tear, but the recovery wasn't bad and I've been able to use my super woman strength since with NO issues. A roller ball mouse is your friend, and I still use them

Oh, wow, Faron - you're in for a long year! I'm six weeks post surgery and my upper arm is still very sore and the shoulder is very stiff. It's getting better every day, but still... :)

Just plan on long, slow recovery and follow your doctors' and therapists' orders!

My3dogs, I just love that picture!

Oh boy, Faron, when you do it up, you do it up RIGHT! At least you can get a freebie, of sorts, but I like the way you think. The waiting and postulating is over and done, so now I'm sure you just want it to be over. All the best to you!

My3dogs, that picture is the best! The phone cord.....

Outside, that is actually the cord to the control for the 'lift chair' that I bought from Craigslist for my rotator cuff recovery. I swear, if I wasn't in that chair, Riley was! The boy LOVES to be in a chair or sofa much more than the floor, as evidenced by him in my office chair the day after I adopted him! Looks like he was comfy in his new home, doesn't it?

Bless you, Faron. I'm sorry that the stem cell therapy isn't available to you. Sounds like you have a great doc who will make the process as easy as possible for you.

    BDM, that picture is priceless.

Sorry to hear this, Faron but I like your attitude!

    Lol My3dogs!!!!!

That pic is SUCH a classic! Still makes me smile & chuckle! Yes, in the burgundy chair, he's clearly saying "thanks for the nice bed Mom"!

Got the Sanford-ortho "Preparing for surgery" packet today....Uffda! Surgeon's scheduling-secretary & myself will hammer out a date in April. It really was gracious of him to open-up his Tues & Thur's, to get me fixed-up in April!!!

Thank you all for your help & encouragement!

Faron, you are so lucky to have a good surgeon.

Rooney is hilarious! He must bring a smile to your face all the time. He certainly brings smiles here.

    Well now it's real!

Thursday April 20th...the errrant Supraspinatus-tendon gets sewn down. He'll also clean up the A/C Joint, & make more room by abrading the underside of that joint. The Bicep tendon may need to be moved if it's bad enough.

Good Lord! Just under a month now! Yikes!!!!
