have you looked at other leopard prints? I believe there is Shaw Exotics. (I can't remember the exact manufacturer). did it for my closet. the carpet is very plushy and durable. the ones you picked don't look quite as thick? I'm thinking for the stairs you want something super durable and heavy.

Lisa, I think what they meant by the dirt is that is the color it's going to turn after awhile. At least that's the way I took it. I sure hope you don't allow shoes on this.

Yes, dirt from the outside yard and walkways will get tracked onto the stairway if you allow shoes in the house. If you don't wear shoes in the house, then any color is probably fine if it goes with the paint and other flooring.

We don't wear outdoor shoes in my house, and my staircase carpet still gets grubbier than any other area.

barefoot on carpet is just as bad as shoes. the oils from your feet will attract dirt particles like a magnet. my carpet cleaning guy told me to always wear socks or indoor slippers.

I like the top left choice because it looks like it will blend with the wood treads.

HI -- I like the longevity and glamour look of the natural color leopard . It hides the dirt better and doesn't look faded like the other colors ..... so it will be in style for years ... which it has been for many years . It will also go with any future design changes over time . I have never seen a blue grey leopard .

Lisa, cool to see those carpet samples; looks like Milliken Exotic Touch, yes? I've been contemplating a stair runner, too, and if I do I'll use the same carpet. Love it.

If you are still deciding on the color, I'd suggest one that is fairly close to the treads in both hue and value. You already have contrast between the treads and white risers so you don't need to add another contrasting element. From your photo I think the two in the middle row would be best.

I would highly recommend that you order samples of whichever colors you like best. For one it is easier to see how a carpet color will look when you have individual samples and not a bunch on a large sample board. But also dye lots vary a lot. Samples I got of this very same carpet did look somewhat different from the sample boards I got from the carpet stores.

Lisa, I too adore true leopard as the boldness and timeless style speaks for itself. However, you were originally drawn to the choices shown. So keeping that in mind, I'd seriously consider choice #4. It is located middle R. Unless your photo is way off base wall & tile color wise, #4 would look stunning, fashionable, and on trend! I think it would still speak and make the statement you're looking for. The "roar" would simply be a bit softer. I would absolutely order samples in this color way and perhaps one with more boldness as well for comparison, as suggested from Beth. Your foyer will be beautiful! Hope this helps!
