he's going to make glass subway tiles? what's with the paint samples? is that for the color of the tiles? how is he doing this?

I like those greenish taupe colors, especially the subtle one in the middle. To me, natural colors like that will always look fresh, long after the gray trend has faded away. I also think it would look great with your floors. I would paint your walls in the same color you choose, or a lighter version of it.

Assuming the photos reflect the colors in person, I don't think the samples ideally complement the counter. The countertop appears to include white/cream, cool grays, and warm gold/beige. Among the samples, the 1st looks taupe, the 2nd looks green, and 3-5 apear closer but still different from the counter (and the wall color if that is staying).

I would use one of the lighter tones for the back splash tiles. I love the look you are going for. Great job.

Those paint colors will not really give much contrast against the granite..i think a deep brown paint for under glass tiles would be very pretty...high contrast!

Wow, is your husband a professional glazier? Does he have the right equipment for this job? If the answer is no, you'd be better off purchasing ready-made glass tiles. You can find lots and lots of glass tiles at all price points.

Not clear on how one would adhere glass tiles to paint and not be able to see that adhesive through the glass (?) This seems like a really odd thing to do for a back splash, but whatever. Pick a paint color that is lighter than you think you need would be my suggestion. Why would you want a dark back splash against stark white cabinets. Your bigger issue is you say you finished your renovation, but you have not. You need to replace those appliances for stainless, not an option to not do that. Then, as you said, you need to remove that ceiling fan, and also take down that other hanging light and put in recess lighting as needed.

so he's going to cut 75-ish or so of these tiles and paint them all? and smooth the edges? that's a ton of work. I think I would just spend the few hundred and buy them! lol.

you could do a cream color if you think the gray will clash. Although, the backsplash is far enough away that it shouldn't look off from the paint color across the room.

i think it's great he can do it. can't wait to see the finished product.

He probably just wanted an excuse to buy more tools.

Amanda, I'm impressed. they look just like store bought tiles. Came out beautiful! It's great he recycled all of those and reused them. For the amount of time and effort it took, I think I would have bought the tiles outright!
