When it comes to kitchen and bathroom lighting, sometimes people do prefer to use lights with a higher color temperature, something in a "natural white" or "cool white" range as it is sometimes called. These higher color temperatures can help them see colors of things in, well, a different light--the hues of food and so on.

In the kitchen, I recommend using other lights in addition to the cans. For example, many people like to have pendants over their island or peninsula for a decorative touch of helpful light. Under-cabinet lighting is very helpful too.

For the bathroom especially, I recommend having lights flanking the vanity mirror on either side in addition to the cans. This provides a very flattering glow for when you are standing at the mirror.
