Brown Turkey are good producers. I have a BT and a green fig here in 7a as well. They did die to the ground during the polar vortex 3-4 winters ago. But have grown back up. I'd say that is pricey. Figs are easily propagated and you might them available at a local nursery or on craigslist. Otherwise, you can order them from Edible Landscaping

They are good folks and I'd recommend purchasing the small ones (cheaper plant and shipping) as figs grow fairly rapidly.

I would agree that is pretty high for a fig especially with the shipping. Dogs grow fast and are easy to propagate. I cut several each year from my big tree and give them away to friends. I would check around and see if you can find one cheaper locally.

I guess you haven't shipped any fig trees lately. Even a small plant with an Ebay discount is $12. Recent bigger trees are often $24 and sometimes more. This is USPS priority mail. Slower might be cheaper and for a dormant tree OK. Once in leaf faster is better.

That said for BT you can do better than $42 on Ebay from a reputable supplier.
