The island will be gray. I don't want anything too dark (thinking a light to mid gray). Am I right to think I need something with greenish undertones to go with Silver Strand?

I think the logic is a bit flawed. You're basing cabinet colors, white and gray, on a wall color that will likely change over the years. Whereas the granite and crackle subway tiles aren't going to change (soon or easily).

You should base the cabinet colors on the granite and the subway tiles, not Silver Strand. Check out 33-1 Designer White from P&L and see how it coordinates with the granite and tile.

Silver Strand belongs to the green-yellow hue family. Between its hue family and its chroma (amount of grayness/colorfulness) it makes sense that it shifts grayed green to blue-green.

Thank you! I think that definitely makes sense. Have you seen Designer White in person? My only concern is that I don't want a stark, sterile white. Does this have a little warmth too it? Any suggestions for good grays to consider?

If you are limited to Pratt & Lambert colors, then you have a limited range of whites. Which isn't a bad thing. Keeps it simple.

I think there are two whites from P&L that would work based on the granite alone. Designer White and Pro White. Designer White is brighter and has more chroma, it's more colorful. Pro White is a snidge darker and is more grayed.

The overall difference between the two is really, really tiny but the factor of grayness is where you'll see it. The spectral data (the color's DNA or fingerprints) illustrates just how close they are. Designer White has stronger hits - just barely - of greeness and yellowness which explains why it has more chroma, is more colorful.

The right gray is in the granite. Use the granite to inform your choice of gray paint color(s). Get chips and find a few that match the granite. Looks like there are several shades (levels of lightness/darkness) to choose from in the granite so you should be able to find a gray that's as light/dark as you want.

I think I'm stuck between Designer White and Seed Pearl. My husband likes Seed Pearl more...but I'm a little concerned it might lean yellow or be too off-white? I so wish I could get samples of these, but there aren't any stores near me. Does Seed Pearl look like a white? Or more off-white?

Off-white. Seed Pearl does have a bit more yellowness and it's also more grayed and not as bright.

@Lori A. Sawaya do you have a recommendation of a Pratt & Lambert color that would be close to Benjamin Moore Simply White? My cabinet maker uses conversion varnish and I'm stuck with the Pratt and Lambert colors. My countertops will be Taj Mahal and I love simply white with the counters. I've included a picture of the slab. Thank you for any ideas you may have for me!!

@Lori A. Sawaya thank you so much! I have a sample of the designer white and am wondering if it's too stark for my north facing kitchen. They also gave me a sample of snowbound. If you had to pick between snowbound or designer white would you lean more towards one over the other? Thanks :)

I wonder why they can't match Simply White for you?

@Lori A. Sawaya they did tell me today that they could try to match it. I guess it's hard though since they are using conversion varnish and they don't guarantee an exact match. I can pick one color for them to match and paint me a sample. If I need another paint match they want to charge $85 since they have to buy paint each time. If you had to pick Simply White or White Dove, would you lean towards one over the other with the taj?

I'd get samples of the colors they're offering and see what they look like with your slab. If it doesn't work, then pursue another option.
