A table light should be hung so that the bottom of the light is approx. 60 -65 “ from the floor so unless you have an 81” ceiling height you can go a much longer drop.Maybe post some pics for us to understand the need for such a short drop.

Hi Patricia, thanks for the reply. Kitchen table has HVAC duct over it with a dropped ceiling. These are the light fixtures that were there before, but with my table pushed up against the window you would hit your heat on them if you stood up from table after dinner. So want something that is shorter. Any suggestions?I like a vintage look.

That makes sense ,I think the lights you have are too large and as for what you should get I think you will have to go to a lighting store and see what is available , make sure to look in catalogues too not just their stock in store
