Apology for not providing enough information. That is my first posting.

I grew the lotus from seed. So, i guess the location shock should not be the case. I'm based in Singapore, a tropical country. I also look through the leaves and flip it over also and found no bugs.

I have snip off the 3 leaves and will be monitoring if any leaves suffer the same fate as the 3.

Look like something chewed on them. Any pond snails or other critters?

yes.. look for snails at night .... ken

nope there is no pond snails either. just took a photo of another leave started to have the black spots. looks like this condition is rather unique because no one has seen it before.

looks like a cigarette burn actually but nope. no one in my home smokes either.

I asked the garden people where I bought the plant. He said

.....not enough water - but the pot was always full of water. He was then said I was not telling him the full story : (

I faced a similar problem and most of the forums did not help.

Finally I did the following

1. I used purified water to obviate chemicals in the water.

2. I did not embedded the seed in the mud but gently pressed it on the surface of the mud so that the seed was exposed.

3. I allowed the seed to take root naturally.

The plant is flourishing.
