I like The wide on bottom, but the other looks more stable. We bought a similar table with just the two u shaped legs without the bottom support and it rocked so bad I was terrified that 500 lb slab was going to just fall on someone. It's not proper to just screw those two legs into the slab without some sort of way to tie the two sets of legs together either at the top or bottom. We hired a carpenter to build a proper structure underneath and luckily were reimbursed. Just be sure to confirm the design is stable. Good luck!

Both look great and I think both are stable enough.

I vote for the wider-at-bottom style. The visual balance is better, IMO. Depending on actual details(if the geometry is exactly like these pics), the wider base would be more stable e.g. if someone leaned heavily on the side, the table would be less likely to tip.

have you considered doing live edge legs? one slab at either end supported by a truss across. Imo the metal just takes away from the beauty of the wood.

Wow, that's what I was thinking about our table, we have more square design legs and I would prefer nerow on the bottom from practical reason (more room for leg) and visual to not look too heavy.
