Love the style of your sofa to use as an example for lounge chairs, but maybe a lounge chair in stripe or floral fabric.

Chair matching design, may be a bit too wide to fit two, so possibly look at designs that are similar but more narrow in width.

Great style. Try adding a mirror or piece of artwork over the fireplace. It will help the space. Here is a design of ours to help you envision it.

Beverly's suggestion for the style of two lounge chairs is spot on. There seems to be a lot of visual clutter in your room. I'm talking about all the little items on the mantel, the little lamp shades, scatter rugs. tables. I would remove everything from the room except the beige sofa, two benches, your two large pieces of casegoods and the interesting mirror. Take curtains down too. Do you have another chest matching or similar to the height/width of the chest under the mirror? If not, begin your makeover by moving the mirror and chest to the end of the room with the bookcase/display is so you have pieces flanking that window. If you do have another chest to pair flanking that window, I would move the bookcase opposite the FP to serve as a counter balance to it. The two benches should sit under the windows that flank the FP, so make sure the casegoods piece with the most shallow depth goes on that right side of the end window to leave space for the depth of the bench. If I were there in person, we would probably shop your home for other pieces to work in this room. Since I'm not, I'd ask you to scout the house for a piece of art or a mirror for the FP wall. You'll have to decide if the sofa works better facing the FP and closer
to the wall with the 2 chairs flanking it, or if it is better at the
window/casegoods end of the rug with the two chairs opposite. Once you make that decision, use painter's tape to tape out a rug that is at least 2' wider than your sofa to center in the room, but no closer to the hearth than 12". Be sure to pick up some of the wallpaper colors in the rug. To continue the feeling of the home, consider a hand hooked rug. Unless you need the room darkening effect of the drapes you have, I would consider having the sheers shortened to use as 3/4 length cafe curtains at the windows. Your beautiful trim needs to show. If you want more privacy consider some cotton voile curtains with lace trim. This is a big "to do" list, so I'll let it go here, and see how you respond before moving on.

I think that you could lighten up the room with going with a lighter color patterned rug that has a base of white in it. Adding art above the fireplace, again in a lighter color and picking up some of the blue. And particularly like Beverly's choices for arm chairs that have some blue.

yes, have not heard anyone say lets move dark sofa, but if we could, would lighten a lot with that gone.

I said to move it, havingfun! I suggested clearing out the room for a fresh look at the bones left to work with, and I didn't mention bringing the dark sofa back!

Thanks all! I agree with clearing out. We are going to edit out all small items, as well as the leather couch. trying to make it fresh. Keep ideas coming if you find a particular item that would look great. Also going to see what else can be borrowed from other rooms.

It's a cozy space, but the wall paper seems to be a bit much. I'd suggest replacing that with a solid color to keep your room being too pattern-heavy!

There is a lot of overpowering ornamentation in this room. And a bit too dark too. The main feature, your fire place gets lost. Paint the wall, the portion above the mantle as well as the two wrapping side walls. Place a nice piece of artwork.
