You will not see grub damage until August or September. If you suspect grubs dig up 1 square foot of sod in the affected area. If you count fewer than a dozen grubs cover it up and leave it alone. If you see and uncountable mass of grubs, then you have problems and should treat it. If you only saw one grub, then grubs are not the issue.

I have had good luck every year since 2002 using corn meal against disease in my St Augustine. Apply ordinary corn meal (NOT corn gluten meal) at 20 pounds per 1,000 square feet and give it 3 weeks to work. By the way I don't see fungal disease in the grass in the picture. If you could get 3 inches away and post that picture it might help. Take the pic in the area where the grass is still green but at the fringe of the poor looking grass. And then post the picture in the lawn forum where it will get more of a response.

The over 30 year old strip has won the Battle (first 10 w/o). It has been a year to year issue with more
good years. Plus, I’m not a Yard Person
But I respect “General Appearance” See the attachments:

My memory is telling me where I lost all the
grass in the Drive strips could have been due to using "Round-Up" mixed
strong. I mix it a little stronger to get the job done in hard to control
areas. Areas that are not flat, I stopped due to erosion. I have areas that
are sterile from using Round-Up and I'll treat only runners trying to cross in
those areas. A friend said he had some to travel 2' and had to dig a trench to
try and stop it. With that section being 2' trapped in concrete, sprayed from
both sides, and catching water off the house next door hours after I sprayed.
This means the complete strip probably got a shot of Round-Up. Knowing the
danger of spreading, I try to let it wick out with low pressure vs
spraying.

The :30 minute Cut and 1.5 hr to edge is what
led me to Round-Up with cutting just runners crossing or leaving the treaded
areas. I might clean and just add some Bermuda seeds to the strip that has
worked me for years...

I added 25 St Augustine 24"X16" section that should have covered the distance. I knew I would have 4" spaces on the sides due to running the 16" from side to side. I had to space 30 section (3-4" apart) that were to be 24" to cover the 50'. Without putting my tape on the grass I knew the 24" was short. It should fill-in if the year old soil is not contaminated from last year's Round-Up. Please share your opinions and experiences.

I did dig down 2" to level the grass closer to the concrete. "But now I think about Strips I have that grass will not grow in". With the hot North Texas (Except Today) I felt the grass should show some signs of growth soon (watering).
