You seem to have a versatile flooring which will allow you to either pump up the washed out look (silver greys and driftwoods); or work on the more rich colours of warm beige and sands...
Do you like books, do you like video games etc? How you intend to use the room will dictate what you put in it.
Perhaps a carpet, side table, table lamp, pictures to give it personality but really need to know more!

Could we have a photo which shows the whole space? That will help a lot.

I would add a small scale bookcase beside the sofa next to the wall door. It will give you some height interest and a place to house/display items. Keep junky things in a basket or deorator box.. A side table to the other end of the sofa and then you can decide on some colour but choosing a piece of art for above the sofa, maybe tying in the door? It's a cute spot!

It looks like a like a very small room. In a perfect world one might get a more dainty sofa which is raised up so as to show floor underneath, so as to make the room seem more spacious. if you are adding more furniture to this room I would consider acryllic or tempered glass pieces because otherwise I think the room is going to looked cramped.

Laptop table suggested by event mistress is great...I would simply consider some chrome (frame) so that all doesn't get too brown...it's a small space so add a hint of color with the carpet.

next question - how do you feel about the funky door? (personally I think it is very, very cool, but that may not be your feeling). That answer can steer your color choices. If you want to play down the door, consider painting the room - or maybe even just that wall, a green color so that it blends in -- be *very* careful choosing the color, so that you work with the existing green and not against it. If you are normally nervous about color, you could do that wall in a shade that works with the door, and rest of the room in a toned down shade of same color. But if you want to highlight the door, I'm thinking that something in a yellow or goldish beige could work. Again, choose very carefully, given that green element you already have in the space. You might want to find a small area rug that really appeals to you, and work from that to pick colors. The brown, the green, and the wood floor seem to all work together fine, you have a nice cozy room to work with!

A nice slim leaf palm in the corner will tie in that great green door and the wood floor - a nice print on the wall and some shelving for books and things. I'm a big fan of warm lighting so a great lamp on a side table and maybe a slim table against the opposite wall with willow or bamboo baskets for storage would be useful. Good Luck!

I'm not sure if you use this living room for, I think we could decorate with the furniture you will have to use. It now seem to be mini computer space, maybe you need some shelves, or chic modern table. Any decision, you have to plan about hiding electric lines into furniture, I guess you have more gadgets to charge here.

Thanks everybody..such great ideas! Any thoughts on the materials/colors for this additional furniture (e.g. entertainment sand, side tables, book case)? Darker or lighter brown? I'll add color through a rug, pillows, and other finishings.

Not sure what color I'd recommend for the addtional tables, but definitely be very mindful of the depth of the piece you use for the entertainment stand, this space is narrow. Keep it as shallow as you can and still accomodate your TV and whatever else you are going to store there. Think outside the box too - a bookshelf, a substantial console table with shelves below, could work for that purpose also.
