Good Sunday morning! How's everyone doing today?

Yesterday we went to the Alameda flea market and it turned out to be a toy show. R was in seventh heaven, he collects, well everything, but especially Star Wars toys and there was plenty of them! We bought an AT-AT he didn't already have and life is good. Then we spent three hours stuck in San Leandro waiting for his eyes to undilate after the eye dr appt. Then home and pizza and done!

What did you all do yesterday?

Ironwood Builders I am not saying it is a bad thing because I have had post where no one answer so it is a catch 22.
Angela - I don't know how this website is designed; but it would be nice if the Houzz team was technically able to move posts into different categories .. like when a vendor is selling something, to take it out of "Design Dilemmas". And maybe even if people as a question, but there's no photo or drawings, to tell them they'd get better resonses, if they gave people some facts to go by.

astraea..the pro to pro discussion area is FULL of comments like that. the amount of chaff needed to be sifted through is ginormus! How many posts has ASV told to go back to the profile where they saw an item (that we can't see 'cause there is no picture) and ask the original profile poster? Or Dy...how many posts has he made that just ask for a photo or SOMETHING to give us info? There surely is a way to add a default to the dilemma posting area that you have to physically bypass to post without pictures. Lately more and more regular commenters are just creating funny responses and laughing about the more ridiculous posts. At first I thought it was the full moon, but it seems to be infectious and continuing.
I don't think some people know that there are different areas in the discussion area. Like how we are using the other discussion instead of design dilemma

When it's obviously an issue of English not being someone's primary language, I feel sorry for them. I think that making a joke at their expense, is a bad idea, because it gives Americans a reputation in the international community, of thinking the sun & planets revolve around US .. that "ugly American" thing.

If this is like the AARP website, the truth is that there's virtually no guidance for people who post, but aren't particularly computer-savvy. And with so many different types of electronic devices with which people access the internet now, maybe they're used to not seeing what they know other people see on the website .. so they don't realize their photos haven't posted.

David, if the Alameda flea mkt is the first Sunday of the month, what was yesterday?????

    Judy, that painting........

EZ, good luck with your handyman. I hope he can fix the stone for you!

I agree with all you have said. I would like to see Houzz monitor the posts better. I'd also like to see them post some instructions on HOW to post! I'd also like to see more down to earth Ideabooks! DIY, for one, as I'm an avid DIY'er because I have no money! And sometimes I'd just rather DIY it anyway. The Houzz tour ideabooks are stale.

Yes, that is so true the difference in posting on ipad/iphone and computer is so much different than posting on computer. I had a lady that had what I thought was an issue with paint color come to figure, she was trying to help someone out and posted in the discussion area instead.
How about when you asking if your painting makes sense and someone post trying to sell their own painting that clearly is not within your budget.
Some of those posts are truly spam ... like the one with the album cover photo.
Sometimes I feel like asking if it's a "trick question"! I just responded to one asking what was "the best" kitchen cabinets; don't they think that "budget" plays a factor? I'd love to have "the best" custom kitchen cabinets too, but it they told me the cabinets alone would cost $100K, that's the end of that idea!

Just my two cents... but in my design field, I have learned that people just don't read! I think they need to make the "Ask a Question" button more prominent, and maybe read "Ask about this product" instead. I think what's happening with those "where can I buy this" posts is that they're missing the button under the photo, but spot "Discussion" at the top, and so that's where they ask. And then of course, the picture isn't attached.

Just a thought, for what it's worth.

As for the dragging up of old threads, I get it the reason for it. I am hoping they'll get caught up soon, and then the goal, marketing wise, would be to stay on top of those unanswered ones. Were it me, my goal would be that no post goes unanswered for more than a week. Personally, I might be miffed if I got a response to a dilemma that was important to me -- a year and half later! Just the kinds of things we have to think about in marketing.

Okay. So that was four cents! I'll zip it now.

How to know when you need a new attorney:

ATTORNEY: How was your first marriage terminated?
    WITNESS: By death..
ATTORNEY: And by whose death was it terminated?
    WITNESS: Take a guess.

ATTORNEY: Doctor , how many of your autopsies have you performed on dead people?
WITNESS: All of them. The live ones put up too much of a fight.

ATTORNEY: Do you recall the time that you examined the body?
WITNESS: The autopsy started around 8:30 PM
ATTORNEY: And Mr. Denton was dead at the time?
WITNESS: If not, he was by the time I finished.

ATTORNEY: Now doctor, isn't it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn't know about it until the next morning?
WITNESS: Did you actually pass the bar exam?

ATTORNEY: She had three children , right?
    WITNESS: Yes.
    ATTORNEY: How many were boys?
    WITNESS: None.
    ATTORNEY: Were there any girls?
WITNESS: Your Honor, I think I need a different attorney. Can I get a new attorney?
Haha! I read this just the other day! Funny!
Bobbi - Absolutely hilarious .. and I think that final line says it all, "Your honor, I think I need a different attorney!"
    But wait, there's more:

ATTORNEY: What was the first thing your husband said to you that morning?
WITNESS: He said, 'Where am I, Cathy?'
ATTORNEY: And why did that upset you?
    WITNESS: My name is Susan!

ATTORNEY: What is your date of birth?
    WITNESS: July 18th.
    ATTORNEY: What year?
    WITNESS: Every year.

ATTORNEY: How old is your son, the one living with you?
    WITNESS: Thirty-eight or thirty-five, I can't remember which.
ATTORNEY: How long has he lived with you?
    WITNESS: Forty-five years.

ATTORNEY: This myasthenia gravis, does it affect your memory at all?
    WITNESS: Yes.
ATTORNEY: And in what ways does it affect your memory?
    WITNESS: I forget..
ATTORNEY: You forget? Can you give us an example of something you forgot?

ATTORNEY: The youngest son, the 20-year-old, how old is he?
WITNESS: He's 20, much like your IQ.
People like that don't get put on juries; they'd be too funny for court to continue!
    Last two, I promise:

ATTORNEY: ALL your responses MUST be oral, OK? What school did you go to?
    WITNESS: Oral...

ATTORNEY: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?
    WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for blood pressure?
    WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for breathing?
    WITNESS: No..
ATTORNEY: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?
    WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: How can you be so sure, Doctor?
WITNESS: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.
ATTORNEY: I see, but could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless?
WITNESS: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law.

Like I said, the jurors would be laughing too hard, and the witness would be held in contempt! :))
Yeah, a little humor in the court. I would love to serve on one of those juries, tho!

bobbi, the Alameda ANTIQUES Flea is the first Sunday of the month. It is like WOW. I've been three times and never covered the whole thing. Huge. Some of the vendors drive from as far away as Portland to do the market.
Oh wow, I didn't know that David, thanks! That was the first time I've ever been to the Alameda one, normally we go to the Berryessa one. We just had to be in that area on Saturday and got lucky. Cool! How are you feeling? Still seven months ahead of schedule?

Arrgh... somebody's kid just went by, with his father watching, and plucked out all the little flags in my front yard that mark the sprinkler head locations! Sprinkler guy isn't going to be happy.

Kimdee, it boggles the mind. I would have followed the little twit home!

Morning all - so wonderful to sleep in my own bed again, why does no other bed feel like your own?? Think it is going to take a few nights to catch up on missing sleep though.

Bobbi, have you read that whole book - I think it is called "Order in the Court"? Having worked in the courts I can tell you it wasn't out of the ordinary practice at all, even the poor Judges had a hard time containing themselves. Worse still was when fully qualified lawyers would come and ask us to do their work for them. I got so fed up one time I told one guy my law degree had pictures of Mickey Mouse on it and asked him what his looked like ......... naturally he didn't get it. Another time a guy wanted detailed instructions on how to go about getting information he needed so I told him to bring 6 cups of coffee to bribe the staff and make sure we were all awake. He actually got his notebook out and started asking how we liked out coffee!!!! I used to have a sign at our counter saying "I'm 51% sweetheart and 49% bitch - DON'T MESS WITH ME!!! Honestly, they all kept taking it and photocopying it claiming their wives would love it .............. gee I wonder why????

Can't believe this week will be 1/2 way through BH's trip and I am really falling behind schedule. Gotta pull my finger out. See we have a new OLLD, welcome Angela.

    Seriously! Good morning roo!
I'm not sure about morning - I was up early and spent about an hour attending to some urgent gardening before the vegetation bin was collected, but now I can't keep my eyes open. So many emails to catch up on but I feel totally brain dead.

Fortunately this incredible autumn weather continues - low 20s during the day dropping down to 13-15 at night.
    Let's trade! I'm ready!

ez, so simple. When you scrub you wear scrubs which are blue. You use Fabuloso liquid cleaner (bobbi) which is blue, and then you clean until you are blue in the face. Monochromatic cleaning. Works every time.

    My Fabuloso is purple.
Purple! Are you kidding? Home Depot? The smell that puts some people down for the count?
It has to be diluted! I told you guys this before. Nobody listens to me. Including the dog.
