Salvation Army Thrift Store... Yellow Tag, $2.99. NESCO American Harvest Snackmaster (FD50/30), 4 trays, 1 solid roll up tray, newer than mine that's 25 years old now, but it doesn't have a date on the bottom. The trays are not brittle. There is no noticeable off putting smell, no terrible staining. The trays alone are worth $20, if not a little more.

Yellow tags are half price this week, so I got it all for $1.50! :-)

I let it run a little while when I got home on full heat and it got pretty hot and didn't smell terrible. So I'll run the trays through the dishwasher and dismantle the base unit and inspect it and make sure it's all clean before I use it. I'm happy with it.

Great find!

I purchased a different brand at a local thrift store for quite a bit more with no box or instructions or extras. After I paid for it the cashier asked, "What is it?" No one working at the store knew and they were curious to find out just what it was. Like you, I felt the trays alone were well worth what I paid.

Awesome congrats! I found an Excalibur about 3 months after my daughter and hubby bought me one for Christmas for 20 bucks at the thrift store. Mine for Christmas was almost 300.00 or that it seems like. Needless to say I bought it and have had 2 going many many times. Haven't done anything but mullien with it this year.

Congrats! We see dehydrators at thrift stores frequently. I bought one this year because it had adjustable heat, which my old one did not. It came with everything as if new (though I could see it had been used at least once). It had fruit roll trays, tiny mesh trays, a jerky mix, guide book with recipes, forms for ordering more trays and accessories.

I have combined my old trays with the news ones to make a lot of fruit leather. They fit just fine and it was great to do a lot of fruit at once.
