I would not buy a dark brown table. Maybe slightly darker than the floor. Cream chairs. I like the chairs in this photo and think they would add some pizzaz to the kitchen.

Something like this will be cute. I don't think it will be a problem with your cabinet- and wall colours. If you go for the lighter table and blue chairs you'll get a Scandinavian vibe.
A dark wooden table and cream chairs will give you a more classic feel.

I think you might need a lt. brown table if you have cream chairs. For instance this kitchen has cream cabinets and chairs, but I think a cream table would have been too much cream.

I like a softer wood personally. Add a cute blue cushion if you are worried about anything too permanent.

I'm with Kelly on the softer wood look. Sort of a round pedestal "farmhouse" look. Then, just paint your current chairs the blue color you want. It will look and feel warm and cozy.

i think this kitchen has enough creamy white already, so I suggest soft brown table and blue chairs. You said that you loved blue so go for it; any shade of blue from teal to cobalt would look great with cream kitchen.

The kitchen is darling. I think you should paint the white walls. They wash the kitchen out, and make it hard to put either light or dark table.

You could buy a painted table in a red, with the light blue chairs, and add blue and red accents areound the room. Also, blue and yellow are fine together, as long as the color is strong enough to stand out, but not overpower.

Roman shades in blue and red PRINT, and matching linens. DARLING!!

Just for a different idea - I like this table even with your current chairs to pick up the black from your cabinet knobs. I've seen this table in person and its not a bright white.

I would paint the walls the same creamy tone as the cabinets, the color chops it up. I'd add some natural woven roman shades to the windows to filter light and add texture. The table can be light or dark, find a fabric you like and have chair and bench cushions in your favorite blue in a pattern you like. Then paint your chairs. Add a couple small jute rugs in front of stove and sink. Color can come from MANY places. : ) Texture counts as much as color..maybe more!

Very pretty kitchen. And I love your black chairs! ... but I think blue could look great as well. Whatever you decide, I think you can pull your color scheme together with fabric. At a minimum, a couple of throw pillows on the banquette and matching cushions for the chairs. Maybe also have some new banquette cushion covers made.

Okay, I am staring at the stove, which is shouting HIGH END KITCHEN. So...... you don't want to make a zoo of color! What looks high end? Skip the cutesy and let the kitchen BE what you designed it to be. Classic! All you need is a bit of color, and no I don't think you need green walls UNLESS you would like a tone of that green somewhere else such as cushions. Even then, a pop of color is most noticeable when you limit its use. Which is where a neutral texture comes into play. But creamy walls, a bit of texture, some cushions on the banquette in a pattern, and even the existing BLACK chairs with almost any casual wood table will be great. Add a pot of blue hydrangeas to the table....tada.

I like the idea of a bench with a farm table in a darker stain, for one side of the table and then a few chairs for the end and other side.

This is a beautiful kitchen and needs just a little lift. I would paint the walls with just a hint of blue and then I would add a washed farm table, keeping your beautiful black chairs. I also noticed that this table backs up to benches, I would add a black and cream chevron pattern to the upholstery. Keeping the bones classic and then add some robin egg blue accents on the table and artwork above the beadboard.

A round farmhouse table, your existing black chairs, a fun stripey Dash and Albert indoor/outdoor rug in front of the sink. I would add Pottery Barn's grosgrain ribbon roman shades in blue ribbon. I would paint the walls above your headboard a coordinating blue.

just wanted to say that is an extremely cute kitchen. Robin egg's blue would be a gorgeous color if you like blueand it likes yellow.

I think a breakfast nook would really warm up your space- a nook with cushions. Cushions or tableware should be something jewel toned- red would be my vote but your robin's egg blue would go great too. Either color would accent those lovely pale green walls. A colorful accent rug beneath the nook could really tie your kitchen together too. Beautiful kitchen, btw. :)

No one has mentioned a pretty glass table...round...and use your pretty black chairs. Base of glass table could be wrought iron or something like that.

My kitchen is similar in colors. I would choose to bring the same colors of the cabinets and counter into the room.i have a French country light oak table top with cream legs. The chair seats are also light oak and the rest are cream. By, using the basic colors of your cabinets and counters, you will be able to use all colors in your accessorizing.

What about a round creamy table with mismatched farmhouse chairs?

I should mention that the chairs and table seen in this picture aren't mine! They are from the house as it was "staged" before we bought it. Based on what a lot of people are saying, I'm wondering if I should paint the walls cream, so the space isn't chopped up by the green. Then do a brown table with cream chairs. The built-in bench is cream. But, the cabinets are much more yellow-ish than they appear in the picture. If the walls are cream, and the beadboard is brighter white--would the cabinets look too yellow in contrast?

I thought that already, that the furniture isn't yours. And I like the colour on the walls. It is nice and soft and I don't really get the 'chopped-up' idea. Painting it cream will just create a sea of cream.
The built in bench can be reupholstered when needed.

I would get a darker table to contrast the cabinets, dark chairs with cream cushions, and a table runner or mats with the pop of blue that you like in them (solid or print). Even blue vases. I think you have enough cream color in all the cabinets to add a cream table too.

You got a lot of great choices like: Darzy's picture, and Kelly's. A round table I think will be best. Here are more choices. The gate leg table also gives you the option to make it into a half moon table when you close one side of it. The stone top would look great, but I would need to see what your counter-tops look like before making the choice to go with the blue stone table. Love the birds at the top by the way.

The kitchen colors are beautiful as is. Don't repaint if you like the green. It is light enough that it is not choppy. For the table and chairs, stick to traditional shapes to blend with your kitchen. Either dark wood, or a cream/blue combination will work. You could do a blue table and cream chairs. You just don't want too much more cream. With wood or paint, put a patterned colorful fabric on the bench seat and chair seats.

hey, rsmicha - 2 things you forgot to mention. How many people will the table generally need to seat, and how often?
A pedestal table will give you leg room for 2, but a square/rect one will fit 4 better as your space is limited for a big table. I do like the chairs make the dark knobs pop and tie in nicely. A dark table will be too much in such a pale kitchen, imo.
Really am not fond of the wall color. If your cabinets appear yellowy, could it be due to that color? Your cabinets are nice but the pale green does not show them off to their best. If you like blue and it doesn't clash with the rest of the house, paint the walls a soft robin's egg. You'll smile every time you go into the kitchen
Just bought a house where the pickled cabinets and trim looked really peachy - yuck! The second thing to do was get rid or paint them! Luckily the first thing I did was paint the walls a soft gold, and the cabinets now look a soft natural wood color.

I would love to paint the walls something light with a hint of blue, but I'm not sure that would go with the cabinets, as they really are a very creamy white. Lots of yellow in them. I think when I have the funds to paint it will have to be an off white. Or will that make the cabinets even more yellow. Another question--what size table? Is 36" too small? The diagonal between the ends of the built-in bench is 48" inches. But I don't want it to stick out into the kitchen too much. Would 36" be too small for 2 chairs on the opposite side of the bench?

Is there space under the little shelf for an upholstered seat? I like your kitchen area.

We lived for years with an oval table in a square room. When we traded it for a round one my husband's reaction was why didn't we do that ages ago. Don't fight the rectagular benches with a round table. You won't be able to fully utilize them. I would think that a narrow rectagular table about the same length as the bench will be very effective. If you don't want to take up a lot of space with chairs you could put a bench on the other long side that will tuck under the table and preserve walking room. A single chair could go at the far end. Your kitchen is very traditional so a distressed table or ultra contemporary model may not work. If you want a surprise of an unexpected table the modern would probably work better. You also need to consider who will use the table and what they will do there. Do you need to worry about kids spilling juice or having a smooth surface to draw or write on?

As for color without reading all of these comments... look at a color wheel and remember that yellow and blue make green so going with a blue chair and bench cushion is a classic combo. Just keep the tone similar to the cabinets and walls if you want it to blend. You can tie all the colors in with a print in pillows or curtains. It looks like you could use the curtains to screen the view of the neighbors.

For the size, get out a tape measure, large pieces of (news)paper and sticky tape. Create a one dimensional 'table' in the size you're considering and lay it on the floor. Place some chairs as if people are sitting at the table. And you'll know if the size will be correct.

Paint a table 2 shades darker than the walls and leave the chairs alone. They look great. If you want to, you could add a print fabric cushion that has the wall color and a darker shade to the bench. Ballard Designs has a fabric with these colors, I believe.

Whatever you do, don't paint the walls to match the cabinets or a white. A darker shade of the same family of color as on your cabinets is more suitable and will still give it the high end look others have defended. With windows available, you can utilize fabrics to create or re-enforce your theme, like french country. A little art, and you are done. Clearly you like the idea or color and those of us who admire neutral backgrounds, are often also deeply moved by color. Go with what feeds your heart !
