Can you put the light and the fan on separate switches? And I'd also like to know if it takes a standard bulb, what watt, and if not, what type of bulb does it require?

The answer to your question is Yes you can put the light and fan on separate switches. If you would like to have the wiring diagram for this please call 1-800-779-4021 ext 201. I would be happy to send it. As for the light bulb it takes a Compact Fluoresent 26 Watt bulb.
