Stack stone the entire tv wall ?

We remodeled our kitchen and dining room making one big kitchen. We have a 48" tv on one wall. I originally wanted to the whole wall in stacked stone, but due to finances I was told to just do the bottom half. We have a shelf under the tv, chair molding height with outlets to be a charging area.

Question do I bite the bullet and spend a lot of extra money doing what I wanted originally or stick with the bottom half stacked stone and top painted or vs versa?

Hate to bust your bubble, but I think you would be much better off with a narrow cabinet below the TV. Stone in this location would just look odd. Also, you will need a place for components, wire management, etc. You also need it higher than this shelf. It should be about 6" under your TV. Not sure what that height is. But here are a couple to consider.

Do you have pictures of your kitchen with the stack stones? It seems like you have already started though, what is stopping you

I think stacked stone is dated and unless used on a fireplace I don't see it's use as a feature wall. Then there is the actual installation in regards to moldings and door way casings that will all be effected and look odd.

The whole problem I have with stacked stone is it just looks fake. I hate to even bring up the shiplap word but it would be easier implemented with your trim. Maybe just a feature wall change of color?

I agree with Flo as a nice piece of furniture would look better and give you storage. The money spent would go for a bigger TV.

Love the look of stone and exposed brick too. A wide interior wall with stone doesn't quite have the same impact. Perhaps use the stone in the back wall of an alcove to emphasize that feature.

Alternatively as an outdoor water feature?

IMO this look is already gone and I think a better T.V stand with some proper storage would be a much better choice and while you are at it lower that T.V a lot , the center of the screen needs to be a t eye level when you are seated.

i dislike stacked stone not because its 'dated' but because i find it very commercial looking. anything in my local LL Bean, Wendy's, Starbucks, and McDs isnt something i long for at home.

    but thats me.

so, you do like it but can't afford a whole wall. i gotta say i like mk's suggestions above of an alcove (or vertical band) to be way more appealing than full width/half height. also more appealing than full width/full height.

No stacked stone and lower the TV

This TV looks as if it's in the kitchen from the peninsula is that correct

Yes it's in perfect view if sitting in front of the island or at our kitchen table. The height is also fine.
Thanks for the In put. I'm going to see if I can return the stone.

Good plan. I think you will figure out a good plan going forward.

If you wish to make a statement with an accent wall feature, I'd say do it but than don't hang the TV on it.

TV is not a feature but art could be. In the case of the TV remaining on that wall, I would actually do nothing, just remove the shelf buy a nice cabinet to your taste. The wall can also be painted with an accent color.

Thanks. I really didn't want another piece of furniture in the kitchen. Hence why I went with a simple shelf that will just house the cable box, remotes and charging station. I'm keeping the tv and shelf where it is for now. And just going to paint.
