We recently did a facelift for an old tudor home, overcoming a couple challenges.

First, the original color scheme overly relied on brown to match (so they thought) the nice brick of the house. The result was way too much brown and red. We replaced the original brown cedar shakes with Iron Gray Hardie siding to match and highlight the burnt "clinker" bricks, and Monterrey Taupe trim to match the mortar within the bricks. We used matte black (Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black) for the window sashes and some of the details to match the new charcoal roof. The gray/black/taupe combination is a big change from the uniform brown, and we're pleased with the result here. Brick is hard to match.

Second, the relatively modern addition to the house did not use the same brick as the original 1930s structure, which was very annoying once it was noticed. We found a company to stain the newer bricks on to match the original. This was an artist's work, with a convincing end result. They were even able to replicate the sheen on some of the darker bricks.
