I do like ceanothus, but I prefer the dark-colored varieties like concha and dark stat.

Socks, they only bloom briefly in spring. I think some of the low-creeping varieties may bloom sporadically through summer in coastal areas though.

I noticed- everybody noticed- that bee's love this plant..honey and bumblebees were swarming over it. So,if you plant for wildlife this is another reason to look for it.

I have several varieties (hot inland So CA) that show some blooms a long time, with a shorter heavier big "show". The Ray Hartman tree had a bloom in November and it still has blooms today! Must vary widely with each cultivar and location and conditions. I love ceanothus.
