Your granite is Giallo Ornamental and is a warm tone. I would go for a creamy white tile - no hints of yellow though. Don't go toward gray with this granite.

Keep the backsplash tiles on the back walls. Don't bring the tile out to the edge of the counter (I can see where the old 4" backsplash was done that way). Don't turn the corners with your tile.

Same here. No tiles behind the paper towel holder.

Another vote in support of creamy -- it will look light and fresh. Also agree with no tile on side walls.

I suggest nickel pulls for your hardware, as long as you're having a stainless or nickel faucet -- if you go dark (oil-rubbed bronze) for the one, then do the rest dark too. Either look is nice, but I think nickel is a bit airier.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like a creamy subway tile is the way to go. I originally thought I wanted these glass tiles but I think they will be too modern for my kitchen that is traditional?

Home At Last Décor-I'm going to get some estimates on under cabinet lighting, do you have an approximate price that something like that cost?

Get some glass samples and see what you think. I was going for a more vintage look, so went with simpler tiles.

I installed some DIY under cabinet lighting just in my major prep area. Later an electrician removed the excess cord and wired it into a switch - and yes, have that done before doing a backsplash because he did need to put some small holes in the drywall. Because I started out with DIY LED lighting, my cost were not too bad - $75 for the run of three strips of LED and about $300 to have it wired in. It looks like you would need to do some on each side of the range, so probably a bit more.

I keep forgetting to notch out a bit under the cabinet to hide the cords - I don't notice them unless I get down low and look up.

Here is what I picked up today-color reference only and not actual size as they were out of a lot of samples. I know the glass mosaic is too busy but picked it up just to see.

Maybe its lighting, but in first picture they look way too yellow. White is too white for the granite. Tobacco color makes granite look dead.

Thank you so much Lori. Take your time on finding the right tile for the backsplash. There are several lines of tile that have off-white tones that would look good with your granite. Go to several tile shops and show them your pictures and continue to take samples home. Some off whites will have yellow undertone and some will have pink undertones. You want to stay away from those.

I'm not averse to glass, since it would be so understated here, but that color doesn't seem quite right, and i think the creamy ceramic tile looks more like the thing.

I am still Looking for the perfect cream subway tile for kitchen. Went to 4 tile stores today. Everyone has mainly white! My question is I have a small bar area. And I saw this beautiful tile today, very expensive! I would love to put it in the middle of my subway tiles, one strip, again JUST in the bar area that's not apart of the kitchen. Is this too busy , and since the edges are jagged, is this impossible? I wanted a little whimsy in one area maybe?

My cream tiles are from H-Line and are called "Alabaster". Both tile stores in my area had it - but not at the home center stores.

Arizona Tile in Denver carries it, that's where I got my granite, but they don't sale to the public, your tile installer has to get it with their license, maybe I will pop in there and get a sample and see if they will let me buy it directly but doubt it.

No busy bling with that granite. Keep it simple as suggested with creamy white tile.
