The climate march in Irvine was fun but where are the people under 30?!

It was about the same ages at last weeks March for Science but many more people from different backgrounds.Many fun signs and cars honking at us. I thought it was a respectable turnout for a conservative area. Walking along under the shady trees in pretty so. CA, we had it made. Chicago marchers were in the rain and it was 91 F in DC. Some folks had signs from the science march and some older ladies wore their pink womens march hats with the ears. The group completely filled 4 corners of a busy intersection in Irvine. Big flags flew in the wind. People brought dogs. There was a lunch before to show people meatless tacos and enchiladas can be tasty and a talk about how we can protect the oceans.

I got to talk with people and we sang as we walked along. I had a big poster with Rodin's thinker on one side that I made for the science march and drawing of a flowering tree of life on the other with a big heart over the trunk that said GREEN IDEAS SAVE LIVES. In the other hand I had a big globe that I was holding up. I tried to make non partisan posters with universal images. I don't think turning anyone away helps at all. Green solutions to our problems can only help us out now. The more people we can get help from, the better. We don't have any time to waste.

Where was it in Irvine, and how did you find out about it? I wanted to go to a march but could not find one. Instead we went to Science in the Park which was very nice for the kiddos, lots of projects and hands-on activities.

It was at the church next to the Greek orthodox church on Alton. Someone gave me a flyer at the science March but I remembered they wanted to have this March annually and looked it up online under Peoples Climate March.

A sweet couple even had old peace signs with ribbons hanging down from protests they marched in years ago. I don't think I'll save my sign that long!

The cutest sign I saw was one a kid made saying don't melt the north pole, Santa will drown. They shouldn't have to fix this mess.

I heard a cable host say that 30% of Americans think it would be a good idea to abolish the EPA. Floored me. I don't know where he got that poll or if its true.

I never would have guessed it would be anything close to that. I hope he's wrong.

I wonder what planet those 30% think they will be moving to.

If you repeat anything on tv enough times, people start to conform without thinking it over. I like the internet comedy shows where they show different news channels all using variations of the same script. It's sad and absurd.

This is what we are asking

Real science based data and serious discussion not distractions in the media.

We absolutely need the EPA and we need clean foods. Clean air water and food are essential for good health.

It's got to come from us. We can have a clean environment and green energy. We have to say we want it.
