I grow my own, but I noticed some plants for sale at Walmart.

Lowes carried Bubblegum last year. Maybe $3-$4 each. Worth every penny IMO.

Some I start from seed, some from Lowes, and some from 2 local garden centers.

Home Depot's website says four pack for about $30.

I mostly grow my own but I do buy some. I buy them where ever I can find them cheap. I do have a few criteria though. There must be no evidence of insect or disease. I examine the leaves top and bottom and look at the soil and stem. The plant must be compact with lots of growth and a nice green color. I tend to buy plants before they flower and with buds. When I get them home I spray them with insecticidal soap just in case and isolate them for a week or 2

Bella, the Vista petunia hybrids aren't available as seed, at least not from a reputable source.

I grow nearly all of my own non-hybridized annuals from seed, with the exception of a very few of those special hybrids. I did buy Bubblegum last year but wasn't happy with its performance throughout my long Alabama summer. :-(

I found a spectacular hanging basket of Bubblegum at one of my local grocery stores for an extremely nice price.

I grow them from seed if I can and usually sow them in situ outside.Most of your common annuals can be bought cheaply at lawn and garden centers.If you a looking for rarer,uncommon annuals you will usually end up paying more.Many rare ones have to be started indoors,under lights if you want to go the cheaper seed route,but that requires a lot of time and patience. I grew petunia exerta last year from seed indoors. It's nearly extinct in the wild and it's the only petunia to evolve specifically for hummingbird pollination. I also once spent over forty bucks on a rare blue Impatien that I knew wouldn't survive the winter,but I just had to have it.Some annuals, like cuphea( cigar flowers) are more pricy,but to me it's worth it when I'm watching hummingbirds flock to it constantly.You can have a beautiful ,colorful annual garden without spending a fortune.

anywhere i find quality stock ... and i pop one out of the pot .. to check good roots.. not too overgrown circling roots ...

and plants that have maybe one flower open so i can see it ... but not spent in the sense that i will have to wait 4 to 6 weeks for the next flush.. if any ...

I grow my annuals from seed and buy starter plants. The starter plants I buy are from the greenhouse where I work......I love the Bubblegum petunias. They are gorgeous! We sell out of them very quickly; and this year they are going for 3.69 each.

I get some from the local nursery. Others I get from the clearance races at the big box stores. A sad annual will bounce back in a few days with little love, good potting mix and plant food. Just picked up a bunch of proven winners for a dollar each. I did bubblegum last year in a flower bed. I was underwhelmed. This year I have them in pots and hope for the spectacular.

Mzdee, really, you didn't care for the bubblegum petunias? Just curious, but why not? I did see them at HD for $5 a pot. Too much for me..

Bella, bubblegum was hardy but did not grow as aggressively as others suggested. I saw pics of them in landscapes but they did not flourish in mine. The growth was not vigorous at all. My waves surpassed them. I do find them pricey but apparently they are well loved because they sell out fast.

Have any of you heard about the Laura Bush Petunia?It can handle hot summers well, and is very fragrant like old fashioned petunias.It reseeds and comes back true from seed.

Yes Albert. I did see that listing and lots others for seeds. I was hoping that nurseries might carry them as I'm too late to start from seed. Maybe next year

I have grown Laura Bush petunia from seeds purchased at Wildseed Farms. Great plant. Reseeds and comes back every year. Would highly recommend. Very easy to grow too. Oh, and it blooms are Summer long.
