I love log cabins and the scrappier the better. Although I have seen and done some done in controlled colour ways and they are gorgeous as well.

Love it! Not only do I love Log Cabins, it's my favorite one to make. I've made 3, I need to make some more. I'm working on my 4th right now, a scrappy using one color family for each block. I've made all the blocks and have it up on the design wall, blocks on point. The problem is, I had gotten a white with all different colored polka dots to use as alternative blocks and setting triangles and the more I look at it the less I like it. (Wish I hadn't already cut the pieces out.) So now I'm just studying it to see if maybe I should just go ahead with it or do some appliques on the blocks or what. There's just so much empty space, each block is 15 inches.

It's beautiful, Lois. It mush be extra special because it reminds you of every quilt you've made.

I have a scrappy quilt project that uses scraps from almost all the quilts I've made so far but it is currently in the UFO pile :-(

Thanks for the support, everyone. Sharon, I could keep making log cabins for a very long time yet and still not run out of scrappy strips. I've just started making some 9 1/2" cabins (the ones in this quilt are 12 1/2") for another layout I'd like to make. And I keep cutting more strips every time I finish a quilt. I have promised myself not to let the scraps accumulate like they did.

I was just checking on your supply, Lois, in case you needed some of us to send you some. We wouldn't want you to run out. :-)

Love your log cabin. Let us know if we need to take up a collection of strips for you. We'd hate for you to have to go shopping!

Sharon and Donna, I'll bet I have enough strips to make hundreds of log cabin blocks. I just made another 7 the other night. I want to make a quilt that will take 36 blocks. I'm making them to finish at 9", so the quilt will be 54" square. Kind of a strange size. I may have to add some borders to make it longer.

Log Cabins are my favorite quilts. It was my intention to make one as my first quilt. More experienced quilters persuaded me that other patterns were easier for a beginner. I'm on my fourth quilt, which is still not a log cabin. I'm hoping to make one as pretty as this. It's lovely.

That is a very pretty log cabin for sure. I think you mad the right choice using a light neutral thread for the quilting.
