I am dethatching my lawn and am pretty sure it has never been done in the past 20 years. I bought a rake on the weekend and have probably put 12 manual hours into it so far. My husband came home from work with a borrowed (from a co-worker) electric dethatcher so I'm a little tempted to use that instead. Here is my problem - there is a fair amount of creeping charlie that I am tackling and manually, it is coming up great. I worried the electric dethatcher will just break up the vine and not remove it as well as the rake. With the rake, I get to pick and choose where I start raking, ie. the end of a vine and bring it to centre to scoop out. I am only 1/3 of the way done - we have almost 1/2 acre. Do you think my worry about the electric dethatcher is warranted?
