Great suggestions! Would you go with solid or semi-transparent? We need something that can withstand harsh winters and damp conditions.

our guy uses semi transparent. it doesnt wear better but it wears off better, recoating is easier.

I also would go with white rails and match the siding. Two years ago I used BM Arbor Coat in semi-solid, and it is wearing wonderfully.

I think that semi-transparent is the way to go if we can get all of the old solid color off.

We have used both semi and solid and to tell you the truth both last max 2 years (on the floorboards - sides can last for much longer) depending on the wear and tear/usage. Just sand where you have to and I would use a soft grey, which is more in keeping with the natural environment of Lake Superior. Would also suggest sticking to one color, as it will take you a lot less time. Trust me! When you lay out your furniture, look for pillows with grey and your siding's color for a really attractive look. It might be a nice idea to paint your doors a great color as well.

Oh my! This is beautiful, Maureen! I think you are right about the single color. I think it would be challenging to keep up white in this environment ( though it is lovely)!
