are the cabinets all in a run together or in different areas?

i'd not mix full overlay with partial overlay in the same room. but i'd potentially mix painted cabinets with the same door style with what you have now, if they are on different walls. would that help?

if its in the same run, nothing will help you, and odds are even exact new cabinets would not match old ones after 10 years of use.

Yes, same room, all run together. Thanks for confirming my gut feeling about mixing the cabinet overlay types. Since the kitchen is already 10 years old, I think I will just live with it as it for another 10 years and then gut it and start over...but I will not be using Thomasville cabinets!

If you are spending the money to add cabinets to your kitchen, I would do it right. I would go with a custom cabinet maker in this case so everything looked cohesive and "on purpose". You don't want something to look like an afterthought. Usually they are able to match the stain and the door style exactly of the existing cabinetry, so you could get exactly what you are looking for.

They might cost more than Home Depo, but to get what you are really looking for, I think the quality is worth it. Depending on where you are, the cost might actually not be that far off! Maybe just check it out and get a quote.
