They're easier to clean... a big plus for someone like me ( a little OCD).... & , generally, a plus for resale ( at least where I live).

If you are thinking of plantation type shutter I love them. They can be warmed up if you prefer with a relaxed roman shade across the top in a floppy type linen or you could do half if it's enough privacy for some of the windows with the valance as suggested. Would be nice to see the room. I love this type of shutter however many here I find are not which I respect. I love that they come in so many colors now as well. The wider widths are most stunning IMO.

i have adjustable louver half height fold back ones on my second floor office window next to me. we live in a town center with houses very nearby, i like that i can have privacy in the morning when i'm still in my jammies and can still let the sun in. all of our front windows used to have them but when we got new wood replacement windows the shutters no longer fit with inside mount. i really miss them, our house is right on the sidewalk and it made nice privacy in our front room.

Y. E. S., they're worth it for reasons already mentioned. They're so much easier to clean than any type of fabric window treatments. They look great and, unlike most other window treatments, definitely add home value. It was a big plus on a long list when we bought our home a few years ago. The previous owners had shutters installed throughout the house, including a garage window since it faces the street. We like the look of continuity with all the windows. We like the look, period.

Shutters are a beautiful product that will add value to your home, provide privacy, and are available in different applications. They are available in a variety of colors with hidden tilt options which increase your view. As mentioned above they are mounted to the window framing the will not move and rattle compared to blinds.

Ours all have exposed tilt bars which, to me, is more of a traditional look. Hidden tilts look more contemporary. Both are nice...just depends on preference.

Here are some (poor quality) photos of some of the windows we're considering covering with shutters. They would be attached to the inside but flush with the wall and then have moulding around the outside. Then I attached some sample photos from the manufacturer's website. They would be similar to this but maybe a bit chunkier look.

YES, they are worth it.... not blinds... shutters as in plantation or similar.... MOST definitely!

Do it...I promise you won't be sorry! One thought that your first photo from the manufacturer brought to mind. One of the first things I did when we moved in was remove several balloon valances the previous owners had put up with the shutters. To me the shutters are enough. You don't need any other window treatments with them.

Our louvers are all 3 1/2" wide but you can also get 4". I would get the largest.

Plantation shutters are nicer than blinds, and good for your windows where you need privacy, like your dining room window. The only problem with them is that you lose a lot of light and a clear view where you want it. In those cases, I think roman shades are better.

Shutters will always be a tasteful and classic look!

I love my plantation shutters. They look great and are are easy to clean. I ordered mine with the louver control hidden on the back side for a cleaner look. I also have bar separating top half from the bottom half for more light control.

Yes...cleaning them is a breeze. Swiffer Dusters come in very handy, then I wipe them with a slightly damp cloth.
