I leave mine on as long as I'm in the sewing room. I do make a special trip to make sure everything is off before I go to bed. The long arm gets unplugged upon the recommendation of the Nolting.

I'm afraid I'm not very careful about turning my machine off when not in use for a while. It's often on for hours. The light's on too. I've not replaced the light in the six years I've had my Janome 6600. I do unplug it when I leave for the winter months. I've been unplugging my sit-down Tiara when I'm not using it. We have a lot of electrical storms here and are always losing power. I wouldn't want to fry the computer on that one. I think it weighs 60 pounds, and hauling it in to the repair shop would be tough, not to mention expensive.

Mine stays on - and like Sharon, sometimes overnight! My Pfaff is 16 years old and I have never replaced the light unless they did it when it was in for servicing and I don't remember! Like Lois, I also unplug my machine (and computers/tvs) when we are gone on vacations).

I unplug my sewing machine and and laptop when thunder storms are predicted. Just the thought of replacing them if they were to get fried makes it worth while to me.

I turn off my machines when I am done sewing. I have had to replace \ light bulbs in the past. My older Viking has two lights and they both have had to be replaced.

I sew upstairs in the family room and otherwise I am seldom in there. So iron if off, lights are off and machine unplugged whenever my session is finished.
