Just painting the house a lighter colour will transform it. The pillars could be bigger (as in the pic below?), and there's lots of room for beautiful landscaping.

Thank you for your input! Unfortunately/fortunately the home has vinyl siding. It is only 10 years old and in great shape so we would hope to get some more life out of it. I think even if we just get the windows trimmed, larger pillows (also in a lighter color) that could go a long way.

I think just some white trim or shutters around the windows is a great idea. I wouldn't have thought about pillars right away, but that's good too. And both are relatively inexpensive.
