I think it’s been determined that the manufacture that made that detergents is now out of business. I’ve been using persil sensitive for my son with great success. Good luck.

I don't think they necessarily went out of business, just stopped dealing/selling to Sears because Sears couldn't pay. And just because Sears has enzymes and Sun doesn't, doesn't mean Sun didn't make Sears. They wouldn't be exactly the same,Sears would never have had that. Just like Kenmore/Whirlpool was never exactly alike. Sears wanted theirs to be a notch better/ different.

I’m sorry, I thought I read on a few different discussions about the company and how they went out of business. I could totally be wrong though but could of swore it was for sears detergent. Hmm now I’m going to have to go investigate.

I mentioned once before that a Sears store manager told me Sears is looking for someone to manufacture detergent for them. but ya know Sears is almost dead so I don't expect any new detergent.

I’m pretty sure now that I think of it wasn’t in here that I read that lol I could be thinking of something else totally too but my gut is saying I didn’t. Who knows I’m getting old too and my grandson got me running around in circles too. I’ll try and find where i read it. :)

I read several vendors were dropping Sears due to their inability to pay. I can't be positive now who all they were. Doesn't matter now, if they are out of business (detergent supplier) nothing I can do will fix them. By the way Larisa, you could very well be correct.

Desoto company was the one manufacturing Sears Ultra Plus. The building they occupied was up for sale some time ago. If Sears was their main customer, they very likely have gone out of business.

For a new detergent if you have a Costco their Kirkland brand seems to be good. Also their environmentally responsible I hear works better than their free and clear. The pods were rated pretty high by consumer reports and I believe sum company makes them. I’ve used the regular liquid Fromm Costco and worked well. I loved their powder detergent until they discontinued that too.

We use to use the Costco powdered detergent (RIP) too, and we all loved it. We've missed it for many years now. Sigh. You made me remember that Larissa.

Some of us are having good luck with ALL brand powdered detergent. Maybe it would be similar to the old Sears powder? I only used Sears powder detergent a few times forever ago--it wouldn't dissolve in my water and I gave it away, so I don't know if it mirrors the old Sears stuff or not, but both are rather simple formulations. I am unable to remember whether the lightly scent ALL powder detergent is still being manufactured, but the unscented ALL Free and Clear is still in production. The scented and unscented ALL both have one enzyme (I think). For being so simple, it does a good job at our house. I just found a 120 load box of ALL scent powdered detergent today at Smart & Final. I'm over the moon happy about this! It's the magic stuff over here. Happy day. I just won this week! And, I found a box (!!) of Biz powder. I bought that before they stop making that too. Yea, I won this week. I've never seen powder Biz on a shelf before. I've had to mail order it.

I see Biz powder all the time. Grocery stores, Walmart, they all have it.

BIZ is under $6 in-store at Walmart.

I was just checking online for Sears Ultra Plus laundry detergent. I didn't realize it had been discontinued, (my last purchase lasted me 5 - 6 years), so I missed "the window" when everyone was scurrying to grab what little was left on the shelves. Wish I had known! I'm now scratching my head as to what to use as a replacement. The Sears brand was the best, and as all have said, when you caught it on sale, it couldn't be beat. I have a front loader, hard water, and a septic system. So I have to be very picky in what I chose. Has anyone tried the "Wind Fresh" laundry detergent, sold by SAMS Club? It says it's for commercial as well as home use. A little scared of it since it says it's for both (commercial & home). Don't want to set out looking for a new detergent, and end up breaking my aging FL. . Also, looking for detergent with enzymes, but without the "little blue crystals" added to many detergents. Had a bad experience with those. Totally ruined a set of sheets. (Turn the sheets some hideous color, when I washed on the sanitary setting). Thanks all.

Tried the wind fresh with very little success at our house. Does well on non soiled clothes but anything needing mud or stain removal it’s not going to do well. No enzyme formula. Might be able to add biz to boost but then gets pretty expensive.

Do those big boxes/buckets of ALL in the blue box have enzymes. ..I can't remember but seems to me they have two. I've seen the big buckets of it at Home Depot but its been awhile. Might be a good alt for the Sears.

Mama, yes the boxes of All powder have enzymes (protease). I can't say for sure whether the institutional-sized plastic buckets do though. I think those don't as they are multi-purpose cleaning powders.

Sea Sea was kind enough to send me some powdered Cheer and All and I loved them! I now regularly use the All free powder and it's an excellent, heavy duty detergent.

I can't find the ALL in the blue box anywhere in my area and wonder why. Last time I used it was years ago and the box had different colored child hand prints on the box. I have a box of that somewhere that won't get opened. Lol. The ALL Free powder isn't too bad..I've used it with fine results. Now Cheer at least the newer boxes dated 2017 are really good stuff and hardly a suds compared to the Cheer formula it replaced which was a mess of suds.

Our main detergent for darks is cheer powder. Love how it cleans, little scent left after drying and best part NO major suds in the washer. Mama is right the new cheer powder is great.

Mama, word on the street is the regular All powder has been discontinued. The free version is still available.

Okay. Just gotta say, "I'm so excited!" Have been searching my local area the last couple of weeks for "Cheer Powder" since a few of you said you really liked how it cleaned in your FL. Was finding a lot of "Cheer Liquid Detergent," (didn't want that), and some boxes of "Powdered Cheer," but it wasn't "he." Well low and behold, I walked into our local Walmart last evening, checked the laundry detergent isle again, and found "7-lb boxes of 'Cheer Powder he' " on the shelf. I grabbed 4! I haven't even tried it yet, but based on everyone's experience here, I think it'll be perfect! (Well, not as perfect as Sears Ultra Plus. But maybe a good second. :-) ). It was pricey, ($11.52 for one box), but so worth it since I haven't found anything else to replace the Sears brand. I've included a picture of the box too, (along with it's UPC), in case some of you wanted to know, (like me), if Cheer made an "he" version for their Powder Detergent. Thanks you everyone, especially Larisa for your input about Cheer.

Welcome to the cheer club :) I find the 120 load boxes on targets website for 15.99. I signed up for a subscription so I get free shipping and a small discount and it’s delivered to my house. Can’t live without cheer powder. Cleans so well, no suds and hardly any scent after washed.

Just wanted to let everyone know a local grocery just got a new batch of regular All powder, so I don't think it's been discontinued. It just seems a little harder to find.

Greeny ALL powder is impossible to find in my area. I may have to Amazon order a box one day.

I love Cheer especially now that its low sudsing and the enzymes have been increased.

Pjp I don't find Cheer to be all that pricey expecially compared to other brands with multiple enzymes excluding Sears of course. Just be careful which box of Cheer you buy. The ones dated 2016 were different and I'm still seeing them out there. I use Cheer on all of hubs work clothes which are all black and always have some sort of grease/oil stains. I do a cool prewash with whatever cheap stuff I have handy and than a hot wash with Cheer powder. Gets the job done. I've been lucky because typically I'd say pretreat grease/oil. I just hate taking the time. Lol.

Mama all free and clear powder is avaliable at most Walmart’s and if it’s not at your local store you can do free site to store shipping. I believe a box of 40 loads is 4.47 so very cheap. I can’t find all powder regular version anywhere except amazon and it’s too pricey for me.

Larisa is right about the powder ALL F& C at Walmart and the price. I bought a box for my sister to try now that Arm&Hammer stopped making the powder F & C detergent she has used forever.

Larisa - Thanks for that tidbit about Target and the subscription. I'll have to look into that. Question. Do you use both "Cheer" and "ALL F & C" for your laundry, or just "Cheer?" I just looked at Walmart's website, and saw I can get the "ALL F & C" powder shipped to our store, (oh cool), an it is a little cheaper overall than the Cheer. So this way, I could alternate between them. (I don't know how I missed that before).

So here's another question. (I hope this is okay to ask here. Getting a little off topic). I've never used BIZ before in my laundry. I've used Baking Soda, (top loader), and currently use BORAX in my FL. Has anyone tried both BIZ and BORAX, and if you did, which did you like better, and why? (I''m not having a problem with the BORAX, in fact I really like it. It's just getting a lot harder to find, and it would be nice to have a backup).

For darks and colors I use cheer. For whites tide with bleach powder or the new tide oxi powder. I don’t use all free and clear powder at all. I did notice amazon has it with their add on program for 4.64 per box making it a affordable option. Also amazon has all powder regular scent however it’s almost 8.00 for same size box.

My kids have sensitive skin and currently using a huge stockpile of persil sensitive. After that may get all free and clear powder and add biz to it as biz has extra enzymes needed for our family.

As for the borax vs biz deal to me they are two totally separate products. Biz has lots of enzymes in it so helps get stains out vs borax that’s like a booster or maybe even hard water booster. I say if it’s broke don’t fix it :) I do love my biz though. Walmart always has that readily avaliable so I get that.

Thanks Larisa for clarifying which detergent you use in which wash. ... About the Borax vs Biz, I didn't know. I thought they were the same or similar. I use the borax mostly as an odor remover, and as a "booster" for the detergent. (I was thinking the "boost" had some type of 'enzyme magic' in it). But it sounds like the Biz is the one loaded with the enzymes to get stains out. I think I might give it a try. Just to see how well it takes care of our "badly-stained" clothing. (I have a Teenage Son, who has no idea how hard it is to get out grass stains, or dried food/ drink stains. And a husband who wears his really good shirts to go out and do one 'really quit thing' with the car. Translation: I have to wash/clean a grease-stained dress shirt). Right now, I pretreat bad stains with Oxi-Clean Max Force liquid prior to washing. Sometimes I have to pretreat twice. If I could skip that step, that would be awesome. (It's so time consuming). Biz has saved some pretty nasty clothing my hubby has brought home from work. Some that not only stink to high heaven but are covered in god knows what lol (he’s a custom welder/fabricator so he gets pretty dirty). Borax does help boost detergent but no enzyme magic. I don’t use borax as much as I used to since I read somewhere (might of been through our cloth diapering journey for my grandson) that I can cause faster wear. From then on used Calgon for hard water and biz for the nasty things. Walmart does have it. Over by the bleach products of all places. A nice size box for 5.97. I think you can save some steps for sure! Glad to help :)

Larisa, I'm wondering about "kids have sensitive skin" in connection to Biz and "extra enzymes needed for our family." Enzymes can be an irritant. Biz powder has oxygen bleach via peroxides, not sure about the liquid version.

Have you ever tried Oxydol powder with Biz in it?

Biz is a newer addition to the sensitive kids wash routine and does not irritate their skin ironically. I have used biz for years on our clothing but thought it may make their skin worse so never tried it till lately. It is one of the few that don’t make things worse.

I love oxydol with biz however there is only one store that sells it around here and often they are out. It’s under 5.00 for a box and gives 40 loads. That detergent has been been a good detergent and we use it primarily for grandsons cloth diapers. They are always sparkly clean. It does have optical brightners so just use it for diapers currently.

I purchased a 180 load box of this detergent last year on clearance. I'm cleaning out under my laundry room sink this morning and it's taking up too much room. I suspect that we all love our favorite brands of detergent and if anyone wants it, I'll sell it to you for $10. I think that's a fair price. It's unopened.

I'm in Indianapolis and I don't think it's worthwhile to ship it. So, it will be local delivery only.

I googled Sears laundry detergent today as I’m running out of my last box and it is no longer found in stores. That’s how I came upon this thread. After reading the comments, I looked up the Cheer powder and from what I can tell, reading all the Q & A’s on it, the stuff is not for HE clothes washers. This comes from the people at Cheer. So I googled Arm & Hammer HE because for some reason, I have a small box of it. Walmart sells a box of A &H with oxiclean for HE washers that washes 115 loads and costs $11.52. The last box of Sears detergent I bought said it’d wash 275 loads. I paid $26 or $28 dollars for it. So the A&H is a close match. If I buy 2 boxes I get 230 washes for about $23. If you get A&H laundry detergent without the oxiclean, it is even cheaper. I’ll rder online and pick it up at the store to save shipping costs.

I'm not sure where you have gotten the idea Cheer isn't for HE washers. I use it in my Whirlpool Duet front loader. My box of Cheer powder on the front clearly has the He Logo and says it is for both types of washers. Traditional and He. I even looked at the Cheer web site and it has the same logo on all pictured products as found on my box of powder. And I see the logo on the liquid bottles too.

Well, powder Cheer *used* to be a suds problem and wasn't good for HE machines due to that. It's since been reformulated and seems to be HE-approved presently. I have no issues regarding suds and others are reporting success as well. Sounds like the above poster has been reading older messages on this forum, from when Cheer and HE did not go well together.

My mother uses ("used" now because I led her away from it) Arm & Hammer powder. I don't know if it was an HE version, she stored it in a plastic container, didn't have the original product box. I searched WM just now and ALL the powder versions that came up have the HE logo ("for all machines").

Whatever was the version, it generated a LOT of suds. I ran a cleaning cycle approx a month ago on her washer (a toploader) with a full scoop of it and suds came up over the top of the agitator up to the lid, and would have spilled over the top of the machine if I hadn't kept scooping it out.

I bought her a supply of Cheer powder and got rid of the A&H.

A few weeks later I washed a load there to help them out when my dad was having a medical issue. Sheets, towels, several other items. I used a full dose per the Cheer instructions for a large load. NO SUDS at all.

Thanks for the additional information. I researched the Cheer again and did find its detergent powder HE at Walmart. 80 loads for $11.52 and can get it at my local Walmart. It clearly shows the HE logo on the front of the box. When I searched online again at Amazon for this detergent, Cheer HE was not available. It also was not available at Target when I searched for it online. But Walmart is good enough for me. I will give both the Cheer HE a shot and the Arm & Hammer HE as well and see how they compare. If the Cheer HE is superior, it will be worth paying a little more.

Cheer powder is on targets website. I usually get it here as it’s a 120 load box. It just recently went up in price but still decent for the load count.

Ok, there are two different boxes. One clearly has the HE logo on the front and I would not buy any box that didn’t have the HE logo. The first photo I’m posting is from the Target link above and doesn’t show the logo. The second photo from Walmart website clearly shows logo. And that’s about all the time I have to discuss laundry detergent. Thanks, everyone.

The one from target is he as I’ve bought it at least a dozen times online. It may not have an updated photo but def he. Just an old picture. It’s been reformulated for awhile so any retailer like Walmart or target is going to have updates product. There is a link on targets website to report an inaccurate listing. Might be worth checking so they can provide an updated box.

Miya target quit carrying cheer powder awhile ago. Walmart Still has it.

I just make my own now. I use a cup Borax, a cup of Arm & Hammer Washing soda and grate a bar of Fels Napha. Only things I can use since this product doesn't exist.
