I am thinking most sellers that sold on the HL page have moved over to Facebook to sell their hostas.

Yeah, I thought it used to be all the time. Not sponsored by the HL but it provided the website for private sellers. Proceeds went to the sellers only not the HL, and now Facebook is the place to be, I guess. Changes.

Looks like the Hosta Library Auctions started rollin this week. Stuart Asch appears to have put up some of his rare and beautiful inventory.

Stuart's auctions have all ended for the moment, but he stated that he will be listing more plants in the coming weeks. What his listing does not mention is that all those gorgeous and rare hostas he is selling are his own hybrids, so you are purchasing originator stock directly from the originator. I've purchased several plants from him over the years, and been very pleased. Root systems are excellent, he ships quickly, and everything I've gotten from him has been a good grower.

While his prices may seem a bit high to those who don't usually buy originator stock directly from the hybridizer, in reality he is asking very reasonable prices for very rare plants. Check out Van Gogh at the hosta library, he had one on auction and should have another at some point. This is an great opportunity to acquire some of his best plants, most of which have never been in commercial production, and many of which are only offered for sale once in a great while.

I didn't see anyone but berdine46 on the auction this year

StuartA's auctions ended this weekend. Who is Berdine46 ? I see them in the auction quite often.

Don't know berdine46, but that vendor has been selling on the HL auction for a number of years. Naylor Creek used to sell on HL, it was great fun when they made up collections of minis at the end of the season. Lots of their regular hostas, too. Always quick shipping and great service. Jim Schwartz of Jim's Hostas used to sell regularly, but he's retired from hostas now. Rob Canning was a regular, not sure where he is this year. He did have to move his entire collection this spring, that is probably keeping him more than busy.

Rob and I communicate on FB, I think he just finished moving his hostas this weekend. He has been offering a few nice ones up during the move. He is supposed to be looking for two he has for me.
