Lovely. Are they original watercolor or oils? No matter, put them where you get the most enjoyment.

I have a cottage style, and I have a beautiful oil painting done by my husbands aunt of a cabin in the snow at night. It has a beautiful frame and does not darken my light rooms at all.

I would use a matt around them. The matt colour would be whatever looked good with the picture and the surroundings in my room.

They are original watercolors and would be framed in black. I have yet to purchase them.

Covered bridge - not a bedroom imo. Anywhere else, don't you think? As to contemporary more so -- what about a stylized horse canvas piece in same room?

Matt them with silver matting and black thick frame.

You could use them anywhere, a hallway, an entrance or living area.

Found a quick example here of prints framed in black, I plan on ordering them this way. Love the simplicity and feel they contribute to the overall mood of the nighttime settings. They are not shiny and yes, I do have a little bit of black (kitchen island and two of our dining chairs). Would you put these in a dining room maybe? It opens widely to both the kitchen and living room and I just painted it a midtone shade of green/blue/gray. (BM Sea Pine)

Watercolours generally look better with a mat of 2 to 3 inches wide before they are framed. The mat should be neutral (almost white). It works with all watercolours.

My DIL has two similar pieces although they are actually photos. They are matted and framed and hang on a greige wall in the living room of their 1890s country cottage. Buy them!

I think they're beautiful and would look lovely in your dining room on the Sea Pine walls.
