Looking for advice on how to change the transition

I'm planning on replacing the countertop and backsplash in my kitchen. The black is impossible to keep clean and the backsplash I have now is to lo busy. I'll probably go with light gray glass subway tile and plain off white quartz countertop, but I'm open to suggestions.

But my question is if there's a better way for the transition from the backsplash to the wall. I don't like the way it looks now. I thought aligning it to the cabinet might look better, but then the countertop will appear to be floating. Any ideas?

Definitely line up with upper and lower cabinet line.

What about ending it even further in, and just having it behind the range? You have a floaty cabinet and a floaty counter and a floaty beam...the 'splash might be happier anchored to something. But really, gonna need to see the entire thing to come up with suggestions that are cohesive.

I would end it at the upper. Sure you'll have a "floating" counter, but it is just one thin element in contrast to the heavy block hanging out there now.
With the beam, upper, and lower all aligning, it just seems like the natural line to follow.

How about giving the hanging counter a visual support. Add a cabinet panel underneath so the counter and splash don't looks so heavy and on their own, add a picture, calendar, organizer above to soften the corner.

Oh...much better. Do end it at the cabinet. The naked overhang wouldn't bother me a bit.

Yes, end it at the upper - it will be well balanced then. Right now, it looks all wrong.
