We were thinking of pairing the desk darker mint blue (small paint) and the legs dipped (spray painted) gold. also paint the bed white (?) grey (?) any suggestions on whisical wall design???

so we put the sheet on the bed with the pillows I feel like putting the light blue/green pain on the wall will washout the bedding...

I think your paint color is just right, and I'd go ahead and paint.

I like the idea of the metallic legs on the desk, but I'd paint the top white. The blue-green spray paint for the desk top is too bright and I think white will look more pale and relaxing.

I'd also paint the bed white, not gray. It will look great with the all-white furniture taking less attention because of different finishes. More simple and spa-like.

I see your concern about the wall color with the bedding. What if you paint the walls white and then paint the furniture the other color you'd selected? I think that will help you achieve the look you are going for.

Add in curtains (have you purchased?), and some other textiles, maybe a floating rug and you will be in a good place!

I agree w/ partim-all furniture white. I just painted a little stool w/ the "dipped" legs. The gold was a craft paint! Adorbs. I wouldn't advise spray paint for the desk. From personal experience I've had mixed results w/ streaking and dripping. It's easier to buy a good latex wall paint and brush on two coats. I can't tell from the picture what the black thing is from Nate Berkus-or the ball fringe thingy in another package. If she is looking for soft and airy I think the bed will look like a cloud once the blue paint is done. Too much contrast could look like a storm brewing.....if in doubt paint the wall behind the bed -in that corner about 4' square and see how you like it w/ the bedding. Good idea anyway to make sure you like the color in different lights. (try a sample size)

ps. I wouldn't go much further w/ accessories etc until the furniture and walls are painted. Patience.

I would paint the entire space a very light gray......paint the bed frame one shade darker gray.......add all white and ivory bedding and have all the pillows and accessories that pretty soft green/blue.....add some metallic gold accents on the walls in the art...have fun!

Yes, paint the bed white -- it will lighten its presence in the room and make it a better backdrop for the other colors and effects she wants.

Hello all thank you so much for your input. we will be painting the wall today so we will carefully consider the ideas and hopefully have had made the right decision. I will post some after pictures at the end of the day. thank you.

Oh p.s. to explain the three fabrics on the botton, the polka dot is the pillow case to play off with the grey and white in the carpet. the other two are curtains. I bought white with grey trim and grey with white trip as I wasn't sure what wall color will to which wall. if I go light grey or white the dark grey may stand out against it. if I were to use light mint wall color, the white with grey trim will work. so we will see!!

If you paint the desk and bed white to match the dresser, I think the pale blue will be a nice contrast on the walls. I would use the white curtains as opposed to the dark gray.

The great thing about doing shades of gray and white throughout the room with ..walls..rug..furniture..curtains...your daughter can change out the color any time in the pillows and accessories without having to paint or buy new bedding....you can add the soft blue now and later she could change it to any accent color she wants!

I was thinking exactly what partim said. A very light gray/blue hue would look great on the walls. Then make all the furniture white with deeper blue accents.

Hello all we have finished our wall painting last night. we decided we wanted a little bit of all. I know this doesn't go well with the dots motifs bit hopefully it'll tie with the carpet?? the yellow is shiny gold paint and really pretty in person. we will change out the bed with my sons whos bed s leaner as my daughters is too bulky. I have painted that dark grey but will rethink about painting it white... we painted the desk white and will get to dip gold look soon. decided on the white curtains and the darks ones were too busy. we are still trying to figure out the layout.. will keep updating. loving all the input from you all. yup... I know.. I was really rooting for bubbles or some soft abstract custom paint work but my daughter wanted this... so.. that's what she got....

I think that is great! Very creative and it will tie in when you dip the legs of the desk and the other gold touches you have. I hope you keep us posted as it evolves! How old is your daughter?

Haha just cleaning and adding a little seating area. switching out the bed and paint it white or grey color.. and they we are done. did you see the pic above I posted today?

ahhhh yes. Still work to be done!!

It's coming along quite well. I'll be waiting to see the final product!
