Patchy Celebration Bermuda

Disclaimer - I know it's looking unkempt. I haven't cut/trimmed in close to a week.

That said - I put down this sod about 7 weeks ago, giving it its first real shot of fertilizer last Tuesday. Been cutting it at the lowest setting on my push reel, only noticeably scalping in one little spot. However, I always seem to have patches of brown (though the green is indeed getting greener).

Am I better off raising the cut height a notch? Could it be the result of my trying to level the area beforehand with sand, and as a result getting uneven water distribution? Or am I simply being impatient?
