You have not permanently damaged your sink. I like the give it time idea, but if that doesn't work, the sink can be refinished even by a do-it-yourselfer.

Time was not helpful in my case. I did a similar think and forgot that Bar Keepers Friend had been scrubbed on not not washed off. My stainless steel utility sink now looks like the finish is destroyed and it’s been months since the incident.

I’ve tried just about everything (including intense steaming) to try and fix the issue, but Nothing. The only other option I can think of is to attempt polishing it out with an electric polisher and a really good polishing compound. If y’all have another option, I would sincerely love to hear it. Please.
